watching over
Here's a list of everything I know about what's going on at this current moment:
-Memmi sacrificed herself to make sure my friends survived
-I don't know if she needed to do that or not
-The Retconologists, Amark, and Emmi were gone
-If Amark is meeting Rakonto, then he'll have me again.
-Even though it's not me.
-It is, though.
-We had to find them.
-Fast.
I started rushing out the door, but was stopped by Scriff. "Wait... hold on... I... We should just take a moment..."
I didn't want to take a moment. I didn't know where I was going but I needed to get out and find them. "No... no, Suzy... just... just take a moment, I--"
"--No, we need to go now and find them!"
She was grabbing my arm. "But how long have they been gone? Let's take a moment, cool off, try to figure out what happened, maybe look for clues together."
I was crying again.
"Look, if you go out there alone, what'll happen? You don't know and I don't know. But if we're together... we'll stand a better chance..."
Finally something inside me just broke, and I slumped to the floor, head in my hands. I just felt so lost, like I could be sitting here for a month straight trying to come up with what I should do and never be any closer. It all seemed so hopeless, all for nothing. I felt an arm reach around and pull me in. "Thank you," I muttered to Craggy.
"So we have no leads as to where they went, or where they are," Scriff said, "maybe we could try giving them a call..."
Everything had gone so wrong so quickly, I just wanted to be done with it all, but at the same time I'm so glad there's people like Scriff, Craggy, and Flux in my life now. People that are here to help me. We'll sort things out, I just kn

...I suddenly shot up. What was that? I felt like I might have finally gotten the answers I needed. "I... I think I know where they're headed, but we need to get out of here, get back up there."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't quite know, but I feel like... I heard something, I can't explain it, it was the numbers I keep seeing, but this time... it was different, but we need to go."
Craggy glanced at me, sighed, and then got off the ground, pulling me and Flux with. Look, I'm not going to say I have all the answers, or even some of the answers, but I had a strong feeling I... I was spoken to, but from out of this reality, wherever I am. We walked out of the welcome center and stepped back out onto the beach. It was dark and cold in here, with the faintest cracks of light illuminating the ruins in a smoky, ominous greenish blue light. As we trudged through the sand towards the city once more, I couldn't help but feel like we might be watched, and for once not in an ominous way. I don't know if that makes sense, I can't make it make sense if it doesn't. It just felt like, I dunno... like we had help, and they could just swoop in at any minute to help us out.
I gave the metro station one last look before we began our trek back up towards the surface. So much history, so much turmoil... just left behind. I can't help but wonder why. Why just leave behind the old afterwards and make new ones. And why did this make me so sad? It sounds stupid, but... like, does the train station feel bad about this? I would. I'm sorry, I'm thinking of stuff like this to take my mind off all of this...
At last, we stepped out into the light above, but aside from more light you wouldn't know any better, this metro was just as empty. It made me feel even worse, for some reason.
"Where is everybody?" Scriff asked.
"I guess we're about to find out," I replied as we pushed open the door to the train station.
