Blaine knew his words would be akin to a declaration of war so, to head his foes off at the pass, he applied to adopt Blaze to give his twin a more solid foundation. That was where he ran into trouble - not from the authorities, but from Blaze's grandmother, mother to the girl who'd given birth to Blaze. 155Please respect copyright.PENANAi6FSyqpFn1
Rosa Ramirez had not cared too much for her daughter Rosita's pregnancy, but the moment she'd passed away, Rosa had been on the hunt for the baby's father. She'd refused to give up, however, even when she was told there technically was no father, since Blaze was a clone. Blaine cursed the woman for her determination to seize her grandchild, and he wondered, not for the first time, just what the hell he'd gotten himself into when taking Blaze in. Still, every mornning, he rose and thanked God for his twin, because it gave him a meaning to his life, and he knew, despite the legal headache facing him, that he'd live these days over and over again. 155Please respect copyright.PENANAW5Z6GZJ7tg
But Rosa was a Big Problem that Blaine couldn't ignore, and while she was around, he'd have no chance at legally adopting Blaze. So he hired an attorney to try and head this new threat off at the pass. He didn't want to lose Blaze, and he had the nasty feeling Rosa would gladly hand her grandson over to the authorities so they could do whatever they wished to him.

Two months after Rosa's challenge, Blaine found himself facing Rosa in court. Small, determined and fiery, Rosa was a ball of pure fury, and Blaine shivered, tightening his hold on Blaze's carrier. He hadn't been able to find a babysitter in time, and every time Rosa's eyes darted to the carrier, a greedy look crossed her face. But Blaine was glad he'd brought Blaze - his house was still being watched despite his arguments, and he wouldn't put it past the spies to break in and intimidate the babysitter into giving Blaze up.
The case itself proceeded quite quickly, and once Blaine's attorney had made the argument that Blaze was better off with his adoptive father, things turned quickly in Blaine's favour, and Rosa's case was thrown out with minimal fuss. Rosa didn't like that at all.
"You think you so clever," she snarled in broken English, glaring at Blaine as she stood in his path, refusing to be budged. "But you see. I not robbed so easily."
"Give it up," Blaine replied as civilly as he could. "You've los the case, and I've been given full permission to start the adoption process. Besides, you haven't formed a relationship with Blaze, and the judge herself said removing him from my house would be detrimental to his development - he's got used to me, and a new house would upset him."
Rosa sniffed. "You stupid," she said, finally moving out of the way. "Egg will be on your face when I win."
Blaine rolled his eyes as he left. "Good luck," he muttered, as soon as he was out of earshot.
