You, the moon.

A soft, serene mist

of glowing opulence.

A mystery that everyone can't help but search for the answer to.

But with all of the universe at your fingertips,

You chose to look at me.

Your eyes have captured light from distant supernovas,

Soaring their unapologetic glory towards me.

A light so bright it seems to dim me.

Constellations form from thin air,

and making me lose my breath.

For the first time in four billion years, I am speechless.

I am unmoving.

I am powerless.

All because of you.

But supernovas are, at their fundament, death.

They are finite, bound to burn into the night until lost in the blackness.

And so,

the moon turned away.

In a fleeting, throwaway moment,

It was gone.

I have power again,

free to bleed light into the sky.

But I, the sun, would give up all my light for another moment with

you, the moon.
