On the foot of the mountian stood an army of demonic beasts. Their leader, a young demon girl, was briefing the colorful bunch.
"Listen here everyone. According to our spies, the army has left. Still, be careful, the Empire's 6th Guardian was sighted with them. He might or might not be wait for use. When the worst scenario comes, I urge you to retreat immediately. The walls have been strengthened as well. Our main objective is the weaker gate. Defensive magic does not work well with moving objects."
The demonic beings seemed incapable of speech. So, they grunted and roared in agreement.
"As promised to our Empress, we shall save everyone from the races. Only kill humans and plunder the libraries first. We need more information!"
The army lifted their weapons in unison and let out a battle cry.
"Let the battle, begin!!"
The demon girl taking the lead, the army started charging at the city. The big walls came into view, but soon she halted their advance. She stood there in shock, seeing that the gate has changed. The intel did not speak of it and it was her first real battle too.
I can't disappoint Mother, what should I do?! That gate can't be broken through and we do not have enough manpower to siege the walls!
Just as she was lost in her thoughts a metallic creak echoed through the clearing. The massive steel gate started rising at a slow pace. Without thinking she order a charge with full speed ahead.
With the army gone, there is no way they have enough soldiers to set up an ambush. Also humans are feeble, they cannot be thinking of overpowering an army like this. Did someone do it intentionally?
As they got closer they could hear the screams of the humans echoing in the city. Total chaos has unfolded. Amongst the turmoil a weird sensation came over her. She ordered her unit to proceed with the attack as she slowed down to determine the direction of this strange feeling.
It was the gatehouse.
A demon? No, that is impossible. One of the races? Not even elfs have this much potential. Then... who?
She finally arrived at the gates, her army was going berserk in the city by that time. She tried to open the door, but it was locked. With a step back and a swift kick the door flew across the small room breaking through the room's back wall.
The mysterious presence she felt was non other than a carriage boy, who was pale from the shock.
A human?!!
The tremors of the horde racing through the gates shook everything, but soon silence. After that the screams of humans and the noises of fighting filled the air with a tense atmosphere. The stench of blood could soon be smelled. I didn't know why, but it didn't bother me. I do pitied them in a weird way or another.
Soon my attention was directed to a sensation I have never felt before. It was like something utterly dangerous was coming towards me. Moments passed and the door bursted open, not even, it flew to the other side of the room and broke through the wall with full force.
What is that?! Is this how it ends?
I got worked up and the fear of death suddenly hit me, my legs gave up and I stumbled to the floor. A brief moment of silence passed and that girl entered the room. She looked surprised, maybe even more than I was.
"A human?!!" she cried out.
My voice was stuck in my throat, I couldn't say a thing. She just stood there and stared at me not knowing what to do with the situation. Standing this close I could make out more of her features than last time.
For some reason my eyes wandered to here weird armor like dress. The glaive bigger than her own height. Her hair was just above her shoulders, a beautiful silverish white colored.
She had unusually long ears, do demons really have that kind of feature? She looked young, but I guess we are around the same age. 76Please respect copyright.PENANAu00I5PTF3T
Her expression soothed after a bit and she finally broke the silence.
"Stay here. I will bring you with me to Mo-.."
Mo-?
She cleared her throat and continued.
"I will bring you to our Empress and she will bring judgement onto you."
With that she turned on here heel and rushed towards the mayhem which has unfolded during our encounter.
Did she just want to say mother?
As I was processing the things that just happened, demonic beings slowly started filling the carriages with crates filled with books.
Books? Why would they need those? Are they after knowledge or something?
Our city did not have a grand library, but I do recall hearing about certain rare books, like Magicology I. Though, something strike me at that moment.
How did the demonic beings clear the whole city this quick? Without magic this would take them...
At that moment I saw one of the orc like looking beings burst a door open with a fire spell.
Magic was a gift for humans. Even the races could wield it if studied properly, but demons and their kin were notorious of not being able to use any.
Is this why they are making their moves? Gathering information and...
More and more mysteries unfolded before my eyes. I saw dwarfs being escorted outside, then came elfs. This city didn't have a high population of races, mostly the necessary things were managed by them.
Are they enslaving them too?
It didn't take long until the girl appeared once again. Now, with a more composed look, she gestured for me to follow her. There was not much I could do, but one thing suddenly crossed my mind when I saw her again.
Why did she say I was human?
