The very second I walk through the door I see two guys with guns aimed at me, I can't even make a move to grab my weapon- I can't move at all, I know I'll get shot...

"Don't move." the blonde one says, his deadly, sleek looking weapon aimed at me. The brunette see's me and relaxes a bit, lowering his weapon. "Come on Jackson, drop it, we've scared the poor girl half to death." He mutters softly, though I've still heard him.
He doesn't lower his weapon and the brunette rolls his eyes. "State your business." Jackson says through clenched teeth.
I'm kind of frozen, it feels like I haven't seen other people in forever. Keeping my hands up and trying not to move very much, I speak up. "Uh- I... I was just looking for shelter. From the-" I stop for a second, gesturing outside at the rain, it's picked up even more and despite being threatened, I'm glad I'm not standing in it. "From the rain." I say, finishing my sentence. They finally seem to notice I'm soaking wet and shivering, and Jackson lowers his weapon, his quiet and rude demeanor unchanged as he keeps his hands firmly on his weapon. Watching me carefully as I let my hands fall to my sides, trying not to shiver like a weak bitch.
Not that shivering makes you weak or anything, I just feel inferior considering no matter what goes down they have the upper hand, I look like a weak little girl and I hate it.
The brunette takes a step forward and sticks his hand out. Hesitantly, I take it and shake softly, pulling my hand away from his firm grip. "I'm Captain Nate Renz, and that's First lieutenant Jackson Wicker." He says, gesturing over to Jackson.
I nod softly, trying not to shiver. "Uh- I'm Emma- just Emma, nothing special." I mutter, watching them closely. Nate nods, chuckling softly. "Well, is there something we can help you with? We can get you to the closest army base, or help you get somewhere?" he says in a questioning tone.
I glance at Jackson, who's watching my every move. Making sure my hands are always visible, I glance between the two of them. "Yeah actually... I need to find someone. Considering you guys are a part of the military you might know who I'm talking about." I say as Nate and Jackson exchange glances. "I need to find Corporal Zach Hayes- uh, last I heard he was in Oregon, but that was a few weeks ago so I'm not sure if he's still here." Jackson suddenly stands up and takes a step closer, causing me to take a step back. "How the hell do you know who Zach is?" He interrogates.353Please respect copyright.PENANABaNqt5bjVg
Putting my hands up slightly in defense I speak. "It's kind of a long story-" I say softly, getting interrupted by Jackson again. "I've got time." He says sternly. I nod slightly.
"When the apocalypse first started I survived with my bestfriend and her dad, her dad being one of the leading scientists at one of the biggest corporations in the U.S. developed some kind of antidote to the virus." I say, taking a breath.
Nate looks confused. "And where is he?" He asks. 353Please respect copyright.PENANAGYNUmUYYJ2
Letting my hands fall to my sides I continue speaking. "He and Freya both died recently in New York, leaving me with the antidote." I say. 353Please respect copyright.PENANAl0vYntYQ83
Jackson looks skeptical, the muscles in his neck flexing slightly as he speaks. "And what does this so-called 'antidote' look like-" Nate interrupts him. "You came all the way over here from New York?" he exclaims, I pull my hand back and pull my bag off my shoulder, unzipping it and pulling out a flashlight. “Yeah, Albany, New York to be exact.” I say, twisting off the bottom of the flashlight.
I get a confused look from Nate, but before he can speak a rolled up piece of cloth falls into my hand. “What the hell are you doi-” Jackson starts to say, but is quickly cut off. “Shut up blondie you’ll see.” I mutter, grabbing a corner of the cloth and pulling, it unravels and a small bottle falls into my hand.353Please respect copyright.PENANAb586yFKqen
Readjusting it in my palm slightly, I show them the small vile full of bluish-grey liquid. Jackson reaches for it and I quickly retract my hand, gripping it tightly. “Absolutely not.” I mutter, glaring slightly.353Please respect copyright.PENANA0oRM9wBp1K

Jackson rolls his eyes. “How am I supposed to know if this is for real or not?” He asks. I scoff, slightly astonished he would think people would lie about something as serious as this. “Why would I even lie about something like this? How would I know who Zach is?” 353Please respect copyright.PENANAuUbtHU1xF6
Before Jackson can respond Nate cuts in. “We’ll take you there,” he says. Jackson quickly looks at him with a confused look on his face. “Dude what the fuck?” he asks.
Nate sighs and glances at me as I’m putting the vile back in its safe place. “Could you give us a second?” contrary to his face, he asks rather politely. 353Please respect copyright.PENANAsUh9PR9nBp
“Oh yeah of course.” I mutter, nodding as I step away down the hall, deciding to sit down. I can hear them softly muttering to each other and sigh, resting my head on the wall behind me. My peace and quiet is interrupted quickly when a loud bang comes from the door beside me. I quickly stand up, my hand on my katana, flinching a bit as there’s another slam on the door across from me.
Suddenly Jackson is by my side, his gun trained on the door as he stands in front of me partially, Nate trots over as well, standing on my other side with his gun aimed at the door as well. “Dead or alive?” Nate mutters under his breath to Jackson. “If I knew I’d tell you.” he states softly, his eyes not leaving the door. I chuckle at their foolishness. “Shooting it is only going to attract more, we gotta kill it quietly.” I say pulling my katana out of its sheath, stepping in front of Jackson I grip my weapon tightly and speak. “Is it ok if you open it and Jackson stays behind me just in case?” I ask Nate quietly.
He nods, stepping towards the door, the infected still slamming on it continuously. His hand rests on the knob for a second, I can see the hesitation as he prepares himself.353Please respect copyright.PENANA2W0aYgJqR7
The door suddenly flies open and with long strides two infected come towards me at once. It seems as if everything’s in slow motion, Jacksons grip gets tighter, I'm assuming he's expecting me to not be able to kill the infected.353Please respect copyright.PENANAKyxetupoh3
I swing quickly as they get closer, the blade easily going through the bone, it’s head collapsing and tumbling to the ground. 353Please respect copyright.PENANAxhKcOT8kYZ

The second infected is a bit slower and gives me time to recollect myself. I then go for the second one, deciding to take a different approach to save the life of my poor katana.353Please respect copyright.PENANANIF1nLGyw6
I let it get close and then take a quick step behind it and, before it can react, I kick it to the ground and stab it in the back of the neck and twist. 353Please respect copyright.PENANAaFcICvCzWr
It stops moving immediately and time slowly starts to go back to normal as I glance up at a surprised Jackson.353Please respect copyright.PENANANAslIQo9Lh

Chuckling softly, I wipe the blood off my katana, my heart racing from the fear. Though I'd never tell either of them that I'm scared of a few infected. In reality it only takes a few infected and you’re gone.353Please respect copyright.PENANAdohtmLJmwA
“Damn Red, you’re better than I thought.” Jacksons mutters, letting his weapon down. Nate lets the door close and nods in agreement.353Please respect copyright.PENANApSJqdJsa6k

I scoff, slipping my katana back in it’s sheath.353Please respect copyright.PENANAYNsB3kJyej
“I made it here from New York, you really think I didn’t know anything about fighting?” I ask, my eyebrows furrowed slightly.353Please respect copyright.PENANAWm1cOatumy
Nate shrugs. “I don’t know, I just didn’t expect it I guess.” He says, his eyes scanning over the dead bodies.353Please respect copyright.PENANA3PE0lTIvym
“Anyways. We’ve agreed to take you to Zach, the only issue being that Zach is all the way across the country in Oregon.” Nate states, one of his hands in the air making a mental map of where we needed to go.

I suddenly feel a surge of guilt as I realize what they’ve agreed to help me with.353Please respect copyright.PENANAqs7FisJc6H
“Oh- uhm, are you sure? I-” I stop myself mid sentence, brushing my wet ginger hair behind my ear.353Please respect copyright.PENANANNwYveGJMC
“It’s a while away and I don’t wanna be an inconvenience or anything.” I say finishing my sentence.353Please respect copyright.PENANAulUfExMwpf
Jackson scoffs dryly, rolling his eyes again. “Don’t start with that bullshit red, you’d die before getting there- do you even own a gun?” He asks, raising an eyebrow.353Please respect copyright.PENANAs7dvpvN0jK
I press my lips together, annoyed at his bitterness. “Yeah actually, I do.” I say crossing my arms. Looking skeptical he brushes his hair back out of his eyes. “Do you know how to use it?” he asks, his teasing tone making me want to slap him.353Please respect copyright.PENANAIyHTiwCPnp

“Yeah red, you’re coming with us.” he mutters, picking up his bag and pulling it over his shoulder. I roll my eyes and mutter under my breath.353Please respect copyright.PENANAWchBlgPWvy
“Whatever.” I quickly now notice that Nate is standing at a table, leaning over a map and marking off places, he glances over and smiles at me, rolling the map back up and putting it in his bag.353Please respect copyright.PENANAhCTYWvmx7U

“Are you two done arguing? We have places to be.” He says simply, like he's used to Jacksons bitterness. “Yeah- uh, do you have a vehicle or are we walking in the rain?” I ask, nodding.353Please respect copyright.PENANAuzSE6nw3P8

Nate sighs but before he can speak Jackson interrupts.353Please respect copyright.PENANAy2wmSLm32s
“Oh the princess needs a car huh? Can’t handle a little bit of rain?” He asks teasingly. I turn to look at him, my still soaking wet hair hanging sadly by my face, I roll my eyes, crossing my arms.353Please respect copyright.PENANAsfQhQKuH3U

Nate sighs and pats Jacksons shoulder hard, giving him a long look and then turning to face me. “We’ll be walking until we come across a working vehicle.” He says, re adjusting the bag on his shoulder.353Please respect copyright.PENANA5nInRpHLQr

I nod when I suddenly hear the metallic click of a weapon. Knowing it’s not the boy’s or mine I instantly grab my hunting knife, my eyes scanning everything around us.
