Gabe was at his house. He was sitting on the cream coloured leather couch watching the television. The news was on. He went into the kitchen to get a chicken sandwich and sat back down on the couch. His phone rung. He picked it up and answered it.
"Hello?" he asked knowing who it was going to be. "Gabe prison now"came Sniper's command down the phone. Gabe was reluctant to go, but was forced to respond "yes sir" He put down the phone and finished his sandwich. Then he went to the prison.
The prison was a short wide building that contained 120 young prisoners age ranged from 12 to 26. The youngest ones were classed to be too dangerous to go to child prison and if they went, they would only escape
As Gabe walked into the building, he was greeted by most of the prisoners fighting. Gabe tried to stop them but it didn't work. So he ran over to the massive cymbal held in a frame and smashed with a long wooden stick. The cymbal gave a long bong and all of the prisoners stopped to look at it.
"Assembly now" Gabe bellowed
Reluctant prisoners started filing into the hall and were ticked off by the governor, who was standing at a podium. As soon as all of the prisoners were in the hall the governor started giving them a huge lecture on appropriate behaviour.
One prisoner, a 20-year-old said"Aaron did it. No one did this when Aaron did it"
The governor glared at him. "And how old was Aaron?"
"Twelve and a half, sir" he replied
"And you are twenty. Behave yourself. That goes for all of you. If you want to fight you will find yourself in solitary. That clear?"
All of the prisoners chorused "yes sir" and went back to their cells.
Sniper made his way to cell 30 and discovered something horrific. Aaron's cellmate Ben was lying on the floor dead with blood squirting out of his back, making a crimson puddle on the floor.
Sniper ran off to get the forensic team.
Once the forensics were there, they put tape across the doorway to stop anyone getting in. They then started examining the body.
"What killed him then?" the inspector asked.
"Well, he wasn't killed the same way as Daisy. Our old friend, mister blunt instrument had something to do with this one," explained Helen, second in command of the forensic team.
"Could it have happened during the fight?"
Helen nodded. "One of the others could have knocked him over the head by accident."
"Or on purpose. I'll go and have some words" Sniper went to go and find Storm, a prisoner who started the fight. He entered the solitary corridor and unlocked the first door he came to. As he opened it, Storm looked up. He had brown eyes which matched his hair.
"Am I free?" he asked hopefully, standing up.
"You wish," said Sniper, locking the door behind him. Storm sat down again.
"So, why you here?"
"You know Ben. He's dead."
Storm gasped, "No way"
"And you killed him," Sniper went and leaned against the wall in the corner.
"No I never, "shouted Storm
"Storm, you started the fight. Ben got killed in the fight. Therefore, you killed him"
"Oh"
"Yes, oh. I'll leave you to it then. I wouldn't want to interrupt your boredom" Sniper unlocked the door, went out of it, then locked it again.
Aaron was having the time of his life. He had knocked out two people and was thinking about robbing a shop. The big shop near the park. He wandered around the aisles, thinking of good distractions to get out of the shop without getting caught.
He peeked around one of the aisles and got the fright of his life. A man was standing there. He had brown highlighted hair and blue eyes. He was wearing police uniform and was picking up cheese and yogurt, trying to remember which one his mum asked him to get. The man was called Sergeant Troy.
Aaron walked the opposite direction. He wasn't allowed in shops. The police had banned him. If Troy caught him he would be in lots of trouble. Troy put the items back and followed Aaron without him knowing. Aaron put items in his pockets and bag then went to his favorite aisle, the sweet section. He stuffed masses of sweets into his pockets and went for the exit of the aisle. Troy stood there, blocking his way out. "Going somewhere, little prisoner boy?"he asked, smirking
"I'm not a prisoner anymore,"Aaron said trying to find a way out.
"You will be if you don't put that stuff back"Troy warned.
Aaron thought about the warning
"What if you don't catch me?"he asked, trying to make Troy angry
Troy went towards him.
"Try me"
Aaron accepted the challenge and ran off
"You asked for it"Troy yelled excitedly racing after him.
Aaron ran around the shop bumping into people and knocking them over. He hid in the cafe attached to the shop and tried to act casually. Then he saw the news on the TV. The headline stated: Prisoner Ben Simpson found stabbed to death in his cell.
Aaron's eyes widened in disbelief and he tried to convince himself that the news was wrong. How could it be? The news was never wrong. He grabbed a chocolate bar and a packet of crisps and dashed out of the shop, setting off the alarms in the process. Aaron didn't care. He dashed to the park and sat on top of the hill that the slide was attached to. Troy heard the alarms and ran after him. He got up the hill and towered over Aaron.
"You're nicked then" he stated, getting out his handcuffs. He looked at Aaron munching quickly and noisily through his crisps. He knew that this behavior was a sign that Aaron was upset or stressed. He sat down beside him "Whats up?" he asked trying to be sympathetic
Aaron folded up his crisp packet and started on his chocolate bar. Troy took it away from him.
"Ben's dead" he whispered, not able to get his voice louder.
Troy laughed "What are you gibbering about?" he asked
Aaron gave him a glare and ran off to the big, deep forest. He sat down, really needing food to stop himself from crying. There was a house, where a young woman lived. He figured that he could get food from there.
Troy raced back to the prison and ran to Sniper's room. "Sir, is it true? Is Ben dead?" he panted bursting in through the door. Sniper looked up from his book. "Afraid so, Troy" He suddenly looked apprehensive. "How do you know?" he asked
"Aaron told me, he found out from the news" he replied getting every detail.
"Is Aaron alright with it?"
"No, Sir. He was nicking stuff and eating it, noisily. We all know what that means don't we"
"Get after him and bring him here. No actually, carry him here, he might try and kill you"
Troy went out of the room and ran to the forest knowing Aaron could be there. He found him crying into his knees. There were a lot of crisp packets and chocolate wrappers around him. Troy sat down beside him. "I know what happened. It's ok." He rubbed Aaron's back.
"Leave me alone" he yelled. He got up and stormed somewhere he knew Troy wouldn't find him.
Troy sighed and went to try and find him. He knew the state Aaron was in and couldn't just leave him. Then he found a person laying on the ground unconscious. Knowing that Aaron was knocking people out, he dashed to the park and grabbed him, pulling the kicking and screaming boy to the prison to see Sniper.
They both entered the prison using the heavy iron doors and went down into the basement to Snipers room. Jack, Aarons other cellmate was sitting on the bed cross-legged with Sniper in front of him. He looked very upset.
Aaron sat down beside him and crossed his arms. "Whats this about then?"he asked shooting a glare at Jack.
Sniper glanced up at him. "You know what, Aaron" he replied, writing something on a form.
A tear ran down Jacks' face. "He's dead, Aaron. Dead"he said turning his head to look at him. Aaron sighed and rested his head on Jacks' shoulder. "More space in the cell" he commented. Jack shoved him off.
"How could you say that? Our friend is dead and all you can-" he burst into tears before he could finish his sentence and walked off slamming the door behind him. Sniper looked at Aaron again "well done."
