" Just take a turn to your right and you will find the commanding officer's quarters," the guard told him.
"Thanks, comrade. " Fyodorov nodded and patted the guard's back.
He entered the grayish building which was sparsely populated at this time of the night. It was almost midnight when the APCs had dropped him off after the battle. The sky was now a navy blue color with several stars shining brightly and there was no other sounds save for the crickets and occasional rumble of military vehicles. Max scanned the room as he made his way around the corner. Several soviet soldiers and sentries saluted him as he passed by, returning the salute. It was almost as if they knew his true purpose of being deployed.
What do they want with me at this hour? Max wondered as he appeared in front of the door to his destination. Two guards saluted him and one of them opened the door for him to enter.
"Ah, there you are." The officer smiled at the newcomer as Max saluted. "I bet you are wondering why you are called here at this hour?" The officer's green hat slipped over his face over the mess of brown hair covering it.
Oh, so you can read minds? Max thought, smiling a bit sheepishly. Fascinating.
" Your presence is required as requested by Colonel Zaitsev," the officer continued. " He has an urgent mission for you and you will be airlifted by chopper to Moscow by dawn."
" Hold on a sec,"Fyodorov objected. " Zaitsev himself ordered me on the previous mission here. Why is it that he decides to change his mind now of all times?"
"He has another mission for you," the officers replied. "Here, see for yourself." He grabbed a yellow file from his cabinet and handed it to the KGB agent.
Max noticed it had the words Stroynyy Muzchina written in large red letters on the cover. Intrigued, he opened it to read the overview.

"Flights Frogfoot 22 and 23 coming in for landing," the pilot of the first Su-25 radioed in.
" Flights 22 and 23, you are clear to land," the voice answered after a moment of crackling silence.
As the planes neared the landing strip illuminated by bright white lights in the darkness, they slowly started their descent simultaneously.
As they were touching down on the broad runway, the first pilot noticed a vague shape standing on the edge of the runway. It appeared as a slender shadowy outline among the bright lights of the runway , but it was still enough for him to see it.
" 23, do you see that?" the pilot asked his colleague.
"See what?" 23 asked.
"The man on the runway! We may need to abort landing!" the first pilot insisted.
"I don't see anyone! Have you had too many drinks before the mission?" his comrade berated him.
"No, I swear!" he replied as they touched down. Both pilots felt the rough thump of the landing and tried to stabilize their planes.
Maybe he'll move out of the way once he sees us land.
He looked up in horror , only to notice that the shadow was still there. Peering closer, he drew back in horror once he saw the immense size of it.
"Drisnya! Do you not see that?" the pilot desperately asked his wingman.
"22, this is ridiculous, I do-" That was when he spotted it."Yebat-Kopat!"
22 then veered toward his wingman's side of the runway to avoid running down the colossal figure.
"22!what are you-"
Before 23 could finish, he rammed into the other plane, causing a fiery wreck. Luckily, both pilots were killed instantly.

At about 3 am, the chopper that would ferry him back to Moscow had finally arrived. Max stepped toward the opened hatch where a Soviet agent beckoned for him to enter.
"It is time for you to be on your way, " the officer said from behind him. He had come to see Max off on his mission.
"I already knew that, sir," Max informed him.
"Shall my secretary bring you a sack of pastries for your trip?" he smiled.
Max laughed in good nature. "You gotta be kidding. But I admit I like your sense of humor. Most officers are lacking that nowadays."
The jolly officer laughed. "Glad you think of me that way."
As Max turned to leave, a female page ran up to the officer and started yammering on about something to him. The officer nodded solemnly and issued an order to the woman. Once she left, Max strode up to him.
"Is there something I should know?" Max asked.
"There was a midair collision between two Sukhois, just a minor incident," the officer explained.
The KGB officer nodded, his eyes narrowed. "I see. I guess I better be off now. I don't want to keep the crew waiting."

As a blue dawn broke over the Soviet base, two shadowy figures stood at the edge of the darkness, viewing it. One of them was tall, pale and slender while his companion wore a dark cloak and hid his face behind a peculiar mask. The masked figure gazed at his slender companion.
You will have to move against them fast as the sun would be up in a mere couple hours, the slender apparition told the masked figure.
"At last I will reveal myself to the Soviets," the masked figure rasped. " At last you shall have your revenge."
I do not doubt your abilities as I have complete faith in you, the slender figure murmured. If his expressionless face could form a smile, he would have by now. I am the one that had personally chosen you as my proxy, Bane.
