"Rain" --- Simply Three
"Why don't I drop you off at home today?" He looked up at the sky. "I wouldn't want you walking home in the rain."
She smiled, looking up at the rolling clouds as well, then nodded. "Yeah! That'd be great!"
They left the building holding hands and laughing about how their days were. It began to sprinkle as they walked the short distance to his car. He unlocked their doors and they sat, both ready to go home.
He stuck his key into the ignition and turned. The car grumbled a bit, but didn't start. They looked at each other with wide eyes, and he tried again. And then again. The car rumbled each time.605Please respect copyright.PENANAIK9O1UFQzG
It began to rain harder as he twisted the key again to no avail. He sighed and rested his forehead on his steering wheel. "I'm sorry," he muttered. "Looks like we'll have to wait."
She looked outside. "Why? We can just walk home, now, can't we?"605Please respect copyright.PENANAZXoFMmu2K6
A puzzled look appeared on his face. "What do you mean?" It's raining . . . "
She laughed softly. "So? It's just rain." They both sat in silence. Once she knew that he wasn't going to agree to walking, she opened her door, turning to kiss him. "Bye. I love you. Have fun waiting for a tow truck."--she stepped out of his car, grabbing her backpack--"I'll see you tomorrow," she called, then closed the passenger seat's door.605Please respect copyright.PENANAwzx87KzwbS
He sat in his car stunned, and watched her meander away through the raindrop-covered window. She looked up and swung her arms freely as she walked, seemingly in no rush, not caring that her backpack and possibly the things inside were getting wet. He sighed, and after a bit, called the tow-truck company, gave them his location, and got out of the car, following her through the rain.605Please respect copyright.PENANA9rObpjdZkL
"Are you enjoying yourself?" He asked once he caught up to her. He pulled his arms close to his body. She turned around and smiled.605Please respect copyright.PENANAS59aeUsn0k

"Of course I won't," she looked up again, closing her eyes, rain running down her face, then pointed to her house. "We're right there. My dad can give you a drive to your house--or the tow-place--once he gets home."605Please respect copyright.PENANAcBgWb8s7sw
He looked at her. "You're insane," he whispered in awe against the noise of the rain. She smiled, then walked over to him, grabbing his hand.605Please respect copyright.PENANAcgZAoXVaRH
