"Rye!!" Ellie squealed as we bounded towards me bringing Sam's attention towards her. Sam was smiling while looking at the window and it was a beautiful sight. Ellie's curls bounced with every step as she ran but I could tell Sam was drawn to Ellie's electric blue eyes first, like she was my emerald green eyes.

"Hey, Lizzie!" I said as she wrapped her arms around my waist. "How was your first day?" This one question caused Lizzie, to start talking, or well ranting, about how one boy in her grade was being mean to her because of how hyperactive she was. When we came to the truck, she immediately stopped babbling and looked at Sam. She blinked once.

"Hi, I'm Elizabeth, but everyone just calls me Ellie. Well, except Rye. He's the only one who can call me Lizzie. Just call me Ellie." She said so fast Sam almost didn't catch everything she said. I chuckled as I helped Lizzie get in the truck; Lizzie is a lot sometimes.

"Well hi there Ellie, I'm Samuel but I would really like it if you called me Sam." I opened Sam's door and helped Ellie get in the truck on her side. Granted, I could have walked around to my side and she could have gotten in that way, but I wanted to see the reaction that got from Sam. When I saw her blushing, I felt triumphant as I walked over to the driver side of the truck. My strides proved that. Ellie was talking non-stop about her school day until she stopped talking and looked back at Sam.

"Why do you have a boy's name?"

"I uh- well- I-," Sam looked over at me pleadingly. I could tell that Sam hasn't had much experience with kids, even if the kids are 11, and I rolled my eyes.

"Her parents wanted a boy," I said smoothly, and Ellie nodded. Other than the sounds of the radio, which Ellie turned on when things got silent, no other sounds were made. When we pulled into the driveway to the house, Ellie climbed over Sam and jumped out before I could even cut the truck off. I smiled slightly as I watched my little sister bound in the house yelling for our mother. She was wanting to tell our mother all about her first day. Sam shifted a bit from beside me, and I remembered what I saw at Sam's. My blood boiled again.

I turned the truck off and turned to look at Sam. I breathed deeply before saying, "We need to talk." She nodded in agreement. "I have questions, and I know you have questions. So, here is my proposition... Let's go get lunch and take turns asking each other said questions?"

She thought for a moment before saying, "I-I C-Can't." She shook her head furiously like she was fighting with herself. "H-He w-w-would k-know. H-He w-w-would g-get m-mad." I reached for her hand slowly. She looked at me with tears in her pain struck eyes.

"Who would know, Stutterbug?" I asked quietly, the tension in the car rising. "Please tell me. Let me in." I moved my hand from hers to wipe a tear that fell from her eyes. She scooted closer to me, and then she was close enough she could whisper in my ear.
"J-Jaden." His name made me see red, but I couldn't lose here, not with her right beside me. But then she continued. "I'm supposed to mate with the future Alpha and become the Luna of The Blood Moon pack. When I was first brought into the pack, I always asked questions about my mate, my family. I know not to now. My place is here, with Ja—

I lost it. "DON'T SAY ANOTHER WORD!" I roared. She whimpered and slid away from me, fearful. If I were in any other state but completely senseless, I could have snapped out of it, but not today. "This is NOT your place! That garbage sack is not your mate and you are not meant to stay here with them to be their personal punching bags!" I was screaming now. I turned to look at her. She was breathing heavy, panicking. I went to touch her, but she flinched and opened the door, changing to her wolf form before I could say anything. She ran away, leaving her books, purse, and phone in my truck. She just wanted to get away from me. That snapped me out of it.

Her phone rang with a text and as much as I didn't want to look at it, I couldn't help it.

{Darling, father says you have a new male friend that you brought by the house? Is this true? Are you with him now? Do I need to mark you and mate you tonight just to keep your slutty self in check?}

I growled at the thought of him doing that to her. Her phone buzzed again.

My faced paled. I immediately called my parents (to explain) and got out of the car. I shifted and started running, tracing her scent. I may not much of where I am, but I do know one thing:

I have to find her before Jaden does.

When I felt a brain thumping pain in my forehead, I shifted back in my human form. My father shouted from the car and threw some clothes at me. I went to look for her. She's close, but something was very, very wrong. Someone might have hurt my mate. I checked the near café first. When I didn't see her, I really began to worry. I walked over to where her scent was the strongest, but I did not see her until a flash of human skin caught my eye.
I gasped when I saw the familiar white of Sam's leg. I moved the leaves off her body and immediately pulled her in my lap. The first thing I noticed was the gash on her forehead oozing blood. "Oh my God. No." I stood up with her in my arms and ran to dad's car. I covered her with a blanket. I sat her down next to me and we hurried home; if we go to a hospital, they will release her to the Alpha. I was praying that Sam would be okay. I needed her to be okay. I l couldn't lose her, not like this, and not right now.
When we pulled into the driveway for a second time today, I did not waste anytime in running inside to my mother. "Mama! Please!" I was crying at this point because the reason she was alone and out there was because she was afraid of me. My mother came running and grabbed her from me. She looked at me confidently, "I'll take care of her."392Please respect copyright.PENANAPeWZH7ScIy
