"You'll have a parachute with you at all times. It'll go off at some point during your fall. Good luck." The instructer explained. I looked at him. He was so familiar, but I couldn't tell why.
"Don't I need more straps? What if it falls off?" The instructer sighed, as if he was asked this question everyday. But even still, something seemed off about his sigh. As if it was fake, and not a genuine one. He was a last minute replacement for the old instructer. This was the first time I was going to sky dive. I gave a good look at him, until I recognized who he was.266Please respect copyright.PENANA5Q4AUDgppM
"Andrew Berkley?" I frowned. He also gave me a frown. "I don't know who that is. I'm just Todd, you can call me that." I still didn't believe him.
"Andrew Berkley, the man I beat in the state science fair. Jeez, that must be, what, 18 years ago? How have things been for you? It's been a while for me. I actually went into computer science, if you can believe it-"
"We're not here to lecture each other about our futures." Andrew said, his voice sounding enraged. "I-I didn't mean to make you upset."
"You didn't mean to make me upset when you won, sure. But what about when you beat my friend Jack up? Or when you told the school principal about how I cheated on a stupid math test? No, Steven. You're an asshole. You always were." Andrew looked around observing the other buildings. A few people were out and about. I took a step back, closer to the edge and to the sky.266Please respect copyright.PENANALW3KK1fI9q
Andrew slammed his foot on the ground. "For gods sake, Steven! You ruined my life! Meanwhile, you go on to become a bio-engineer or whatever. How would you like to end up with barely any money to your name when you could've gotten a scholarship to harvard? I was the deplorable second place, but you had to come out on top!" Andrew tried smacking me, but I took another step back. I was maybe two feet away from the edge, maximum.
"You're going to kill me," I stated, my voice hoarse with fear. My mind started collapsing in on itself. I saw all sorts of random moments of my life. Some of them were terrifying, others comforting.
"No." Andrew's angry voice brought me back to reality. "You'll be the murderer." He got his voice lower, and lunged at me one last time. I took a step to the side, and pushed him off the edge.
I saw him fall to his death, his middle finger up at me. He was right. My brain collected all the details from what had happened. The stomping, the screaming. It was all meant to be evidence for his murder. And I was to be guilty, given a life sentance.
