"He's hurt, but he's still with us," I said, trying to infuse my words with confidence. "We need to get him to safety and regroup."
Casey nodded, his jaw set with determination. "Let's get him to Jungle Karma Pizza. We can tend to his wounds there."
With careful hands, we lifted RJ and began the trek back to the pizzeria, the weight of our mission pressing down on us more heavily than ever. As we moved, I felt a renewed sense of purpose burning within me. Drakkon's reign of terror couldn't continue. The fallen Rangers deserved justice, and the surviving ones needed hope. And I was determined to be that hope, no matter the cost.
Once we reached the safety of Jungle Karma Pizza, we laid RJ on a makeshift bed. Fran, the ever-loyal employee, was quick to bring supplies and offer her assistance, her eyes wide with worry. "He's lost a lot of blood," Fran said, her voice trembling. "We need to act fast."
"We will," I assured her, turning to Theo and Casey. "We need to keep a lookout. Drakkon will likely return, and we can't be caught off guard again."
Theo nodded, determination etched on his face. "We'll be ready. We'll make sure he doesn't get another Ranger."
As Fran tended to RJ, I took a moment to center myself. The battle was far from over, but with every life we saved, every Ranger we protected, we grew stronger. Turning to the team, I said, "We'll need a plan. Drakkon won't stop until he has what he wants, but together, we can outsmart him."
"What's the plan?" Casey asked, his eyes burning with the same determination I felt.
"Come back with me to Drakkon’s dimension. We’ve already got the Dino Thunder Rangers there," I said, my mind already racing with possibilities. "But first, we need to make sure RJ recovers. After that, we take the fight to Drakkon. We'll use every resource we have, every ounce of strength, to stop him."
RJ stirred, his voice weak but resolute. "And I'll be right there with you, Kali. Drakkon won't know what hit him."
I smiled, feeling the weight of leadership settle on my shoulders. It was a heavy burden, but one I was ready to bear. For the Rangers, for the multiverse, and for the legacy we were all a part of. As we prepared for the battles ahead, I knew one thing for certain: we would not be defeated. Not by Drakkon, not by anyone. Because we were Rangers, and we never gave up.
After a few tense hours, it seemed RJ was going to make it. Fran had done her best to stabilize him, and his breathing had steadied. We all let out a collective sigh of relief, gathering around him in hopeful silence. Within those few hours, I’d introduced myself to the others and explained what was going on.
But then, just as we began to relax, things took a sudden turn for the worse. RJ's breathing became labored again, and he started showing signs of immense pain. He clenched his fists, his face contorted in agony, and we could do nothing but watch helplessly.
"What's happening?" Theo demanded, his voice thick with concern. "Fran, do something!"
Fran rushed to RJ's side, checking his vitals with frantic urgency. "I don't understand," she murmured, her brow furrowed in confusion. "He was stable just moments ago..."
RJ gasped for breath, his eyes meeting mine with a mix of pain and determination. "Kali," he managed to say, his voice strained. "Take... my spirit... my wolf spirit... It's... the only way..."
I shook my head, tears welling in my eyes. "No, RJ, we can still save you," I insisted, my voice trembling with grief.
He reached out a hand, grasping mine weakly. "It's... okay," he whispered, his strength fading. "You... you have to... carry on... Protect... the Rangers..."
The light began to fade from his eyes, and I felt a surge of warmth pass from him to me. It was as if his spirit was transferring into mine, a bond forming between us. With a final, gentle squeeze of my hand, RJ's hand went limp, and his eyes closed.
"No!" I cried out, shaking with sorrow. "RJ, please..."
Casey laid a comforting hand on my shoulder, his own grief evident. "He's gone, Kali," he said quietly, his voice thick with emotion. "He sacrificed himself so that you could carry on."
Theo knelt beside RJ's lifeless form, his head bowed in reverence. "He believed in you, Kali," Theo said softly, his voice choked with emotion. "We all do."
Fran wiped tears from her eyes, her voice steady despite her grief. "He's passed his spirit to you, Kali," she said, her words carrying a weight of solemnity. "Use it wisely."
I nodded slowly, my heart heavy with loss but fueled by RJ's final gift. "I will," I whispered, my voice filled with determination. "I won't let his sacrifice be in vain. Drakkon will pay for what he's done."
As we stood in silent tribute to our fallen comrade, a renewed resolve settled over me. RJ's spirit lived on within me, a reminder of the strength and courage we all possessed as Rangers. And with that strength, I would honor his memory and continue the fight against Drakkon, no matter the cost.

I took a deep breath as I led the weary Jungle Fury Rangers back to where Billy and the others were waiting. Billy's face lit up with relief when he saw us, but it quickly turned to concern as he took in the bruises and cuts that marred all of our forms. There was a solemn silence between us, heavy with unspoken grief and fatigue. Billy and Jason exchanged a glance, a silent conversation passing between them before they approached us. Without a word, Billy gently took my hand, his touch grounding and comforting amidst the turmoil. Jason stepped forward, introducing himself and the others from the Jungle Fury team to Trini, who immediately took over talking to them, offering reassurance and solidarity.
Meanwhile, Jason returned to Billy and me. I could see the worry etched on both their faces, mirrored in their eyes as they wrapped me in a tight embrace. The warmth of their embrace enveloped me, offering solace in the midst of my sorrow. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I leaned into their embrace, letting myself release the pent-up emotions that had been building since RJ's sacrifice.
They held onto me without hesitation, their strength and support a lifeline in that moment of vulnerability. Minutes passed in silence, broken only by my quiet sobs, and not once did they loosen their hold until I had cried myself out and found some semblance of calm. Eventually, as I regained composure, I recounted what had transpired in Ocean Bluff, how RJ had bravely intervened to save me at the cost of his own life. I spoke of his final words and the gift he had bestowed upon me – his wolf spirit. Billy and Jason listened intently, their expressions a mix of sorrow, admiration, and determination.
"I'm sorry Kali," Billy said softly, his voice filled with genuine sympathy. "RJ was a true hero."
Jason nodded solemnly. "He believed in you just like we all do. That's why he entrusted you with his spirit, just as Tommy did with the Dragon Dagger."
I wiped away the last of my tears, nodding in gratitude for their understanding. "Thank you, both of you," I said, my voice steadier now. "I won't let RJ's sacrifice be in vain. We'll stop Drakkon, no matter what."
"We're with you," Billy affirmed, squeezing my hand gently. "All of us. But for now, go rest.”
“How can I rest when Drakkon’s on a killing spree? I need to track him down,” I protested, my voice shaking with urgency.
Billy gave me a soft, understanding smile. “You need to keep up your strength. Go take a break, doctor’s orders,” he insisted, his tone gentle but firm.
I sighed, knowing he was right but still feeling the weight of urgency pressing down on me. “Alright, but only for a little bit,” I said firmly, trying to muster a smile. I hugged Billy and Jason one more time, the comfort of their presence giving me a momentary respite from my worries. “Thank you both. I don’t know what I would do without you.”
They both hugged back, enveloping me in their warmth and support. Jason chuckled slightly. “We’re family, remember? It’s what we do,” he said, his voice filled with a mixture of affection and determination.
I smiled, feeling a bit lighter, and headed to my room. Once inside, the weight of the day's events seemed to press down on me even harder. I laid down on my bed, my mind racing with thoughts of Devon and my friends back home. I reached for the last celebratory picture we’d all taken together after we beat Venjix. Looking at the smiling faces, I couldn't help but smile through the silent tears that began to fall. I missed Ben and Betty’s antics, Steel’s unyielding enthusiasm, Zoey’s contagious confidence, Nate’s genius ideas that saved our butts more than once, the loyal Beast Bots who were always by our side, Blaze and Roxy’s unwavering support, and even Ravi’s intense focus that kept us on track. But I especially missed Devon.
I pulled out the last photo Devon had taken of us. It was at my parents’ apartment. My mom had gone on another business trip for a couple of days, and my dad was still deployed. Devon had come over right after my mom left, since I still wasn’t fully recovered from Drakkon’s attack. We spent the whole day watching movies, playing games, and eating ice cream. I ended up falling asleep against him, and he took a picture. I didn’t realize at the time how special this picture would become to me.
As I looked at the photo, I could almost feel Devon’s presence beside me, his warmth and strength giving me comfort. I took a deep breath and wiped the tears from my eyes before closing them. “I miss you so much, Devon. As much as I want you here with me, there’s no way I’d put you and our friends through this hell,” I whispered to myself, my voice breaking. Exhaustion finally overtook me, and I drifted off to sleep, the photo still clutched in my hand.

Dream...?
I opened my eyes and saw Devon standing before me, a radiant smile spreading across his face. “Dev! Is it really you?” I asked, disbelief and joy mixing in my voice.
“Kali! Yeah, it’s really me,” he replied, his voice filled with equal parts relief and excitement. Without hesitation, we rushed into each other's arms, wrapping ourselves in a tight embrace that spoke volumes of the longing and pain we had both endured.
“Something about this feels different than a dream. I know I fell asleep, but…I feel like I’m actually talking to you,” I mentioned, my voice soft with wonder as I pulled back slightly to look into his eyes. Devon nodded in agreement, his gaze warm and filled with affection.
“Yeah, so do I. I know I fell asleep too. Regardless, I'm so happy to see you. Are you okay?” Devon asked, his concern palpable as he studied my face, searching for any sign of the hardships I'd faced.
“Well, mostly. I’m alive but…it’s been hard,” I admitted, my voice catching slightly as I reflected on the losses and struggles I had faced.
“I heard. Some sort of red and white being appeared to me in a dream and told me you were in the middle of a war with your dad. What’s going on?” Devon inquired gently, his brow furrowing with concern.
“It sounds like you met the Red Morphin Master. It’s a long story. Like I said, I’m alive but I can’t say the same for other Rangers. Dr. Oliver wasn’t the only one he killed, Dev. First I saw some Rangers who Drakkon already got to…most recently RJ from the Jungle Fury team died to save me…and Joel the Green Lightspeed Rescue Ranger…Drakkon brutally murdered him and I couldn’t save him…” Tears welled up in my eyes as the memories flooded back, the pain and helplessness of those moments still raw.
Devon immediately pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me protectively. “I’m so sorry, Kali. I’m gonna come find you,” he vowed, his voice filled with determination.
“No. Please, I don’t want you or our friends to be put in this nightmare,” I pleaded softly, burying my face in his chest, seeking solace in his embrace.
Devon was silent for a few moments, his arms tightening around me before he sighed resignedly. “Okay, but just promise me you’ll come home, and if you need us, or just me, let me know.”
“I will, Dev. I promise. And just in case this isn’t a dream, could you tell the others everything I told you?” I asked, looking up at him with pleading eyes.
“Sure, Kali,” he agreed softly before leaning down to kiss me passionately. I melted into his embrace, returning his kiss with equal fervor, savoring the warmth and familiarity of his touch.
“I love you so much, and we all miss you,” Devon murmured against my lips as we broke apart, his voice filled with a mix of love and longing.
“I love you so much too, Dev. I miss you and our friends too. Hopefully, I’ll be home soon,” I whispered, resting my forehead against his. We spent a few more precious moments together, wrapped in each other’s arms, before everything began to fade into darkness, pulling us apart once more.

I woke up, my cheeks still damp with tears from the dream I had just woken from. Taking a deep breath, I sat up slowly, wiping my face with the back of my hand. The images of my team and Devon in the photos beside my bed brought a bittersweet smile to my face before I carefully tucked them away. After changing into fresh clothes and brushing my hair, I made my way to the command room. Jason and Billy were already there, deep in discussion.
"Hey Kali. Feel better?" Jason greeted me with a gentle smile as I entered.
"Yeah, guess I needed that. Thanks," I replied softly, returning his smile with a nod of gratitude. Turning to Billy, I couldn't help but voice my curiosity. "Oh hey Billy, is it possible to telepathically talk to someone through the Morphin Grid?"
Billy pondered my question for a moment, his expression thoughtful. "Well…it wouldn’t surprise me. There’s so much we don’t understand about the Grid. Why do you ask?"
I took a moment to explain the experience I had with Devon in my dream. "I was able to talk to him as if he was really there. It felt so real. I'm wondering if it's something I can actually do consciously."
"Hm, perhaps your intense emotions and close bond with him had something to do with it," Billy mused, his mind clearly working through the possibilities.
"That makes sense," I nodded in agreement, grateful for the insight. Taking a deep breath, I made up my mind. "Anyway, I’m gonna see if any other Rangers are in danger."
Closing my eyes, I focused on the Morphin Grid once more, trying to extend my senses beyond my immediate surroundings. The familiar tingling sensation enveloped me as I reached out, searching for any disturbances or signs of danger among the Rangers scattered across the multiverse.
Moments passed in silence as I concentrated, my mind attuned to the subtle currents of energy within the Grid. Images and sensations flickered through my consciousness, snippets of other Rangers' lives and battles. Suddenly, a surge of urgency gripped me as I sensed a disturbance, a dark presence that felt all too familiar. "Guys, I think I've found something," I announced, my voice tinged with concern as I opened my eyes to meet Jason and Billy's gaze.
