"There is nothing wrong with you , Alex . You're just socially awkward , and that's not a crime". I said as I embraced him in a hug. "I am going to talk to my mother about this today". Alex had only his mother and me to talk to , and after talking to me he always talked to her. He had no other family or friends. "I'll tell her to talk to the principal , and get those boys a good beating", he shouted. "NO!", I replied hurriedly. "No? What do you mean 'No'?". "You can't let her talk to anyone , I told you about it". Alex knew his mother only talked to him, she was socially awkward too. "But it's the principal!". "Alex , if you take her to talk to the principal , you will get to know hell like never before". "You're right, those boys aren't the ones to back down", Alex nodded. I sigh , relieved that I saved him from yet another tragedy.

The next day as Alex and I make our way out of school, the bullies crowd us . This is new. Usually they would wait for the school to clear out. They started throwing punches and jabs at Alex, to the point where he was bleeding. He pleaded and pleaded, but they didn't stop. "Alexis, help me, do something please!". "I can't ", I whisper back to him. "I'm sorry , Alex". "What? You're stronger and smarter than me, you can take out this group in seconds! Please Alexis!". He shouted at the top of the lungs , his mouth filled with blood. That was his big mistake, everyone heard him . "Who are you talking to , little boy , got a little friend with ya , have you?". One of the bullies laughed, waving his hand in the direction Alex was looking at. The hand came closer and closer to me, and went through my body . Alex stared in disbelief. "What ? What just happened? Alexis?" He screamed. "I'm sorry Alex. You're schizophrenic . I'm just a figment of your imagination". "No , this can't be true! Why wouldn't mother ever tell me?". At this point the bullies let him free, and just stared at him, thinking he was a crazed lunatic or something. Truth be told, as much as I hate to admit it, he was. "Answer me! Why wouldn't mother tell me!". He screamed as high as his voice would go. "Alex". I say with sympathy , "You're an orphan".
