Senria walked through the once beautiful streets, which had been destroyed years ago by a mysterious giant flame. The flame had appeared out of nowhere, killing everyone and everything in it's path. Including her entire family. Senria had been lucky to escape. But now she was on her own. The man who had cared for her ever since he had found her on the ground, crying, had died a few days ago. So she was left to fend for herself in the gigantic desert that had once been a beautiful forest before the flame. Then suddenly she heard crying coming from the ruins of one of the buildings. Impossible, she thought, Nobody would leave a child out here in the desert. But when she peered into what was left of the building, she saw a little boy, about one or two years old Senria guessed, sitting on the ground crying. She quickly pushed the debris out of the way so she could make her way to the child. She scooped him up in her arms and carried him back to the small hut that she had been raised in. "Stay there." she instructed as she set the boy on her bed. She rummaged through the tiny pantry until she found some stale bread and a jug of water. "I'm sorry I can't offer you more." She said, soaking the bread in the water until it was soft enough for the child to eat. Once she had fed him the last of the bread, she made him lay down and covered him with the thin blanket that was laying nearby. Then she went back outside to search for some food. It wasn't long before she spotted one of the many birds that lived in the desert flying low. With practiced aim, she threw her knife at the bird. The creature fell to the ground. Senria picked it up and tossed into her bag, then proceeded to kill ten more birds. After that, she gathered enough of the sweet fruits, which she had discovered growing under rocks a few years ago, to fill her bag the rest of the way. Finally she began her trek back to the hut. When she arrived, she dumped the contents of her bag into the pantry then curled up beside the snoring infant. After a few minutes, she was sound asleep.
Senria woke to the sound of a little boy crying. At first she was confused, but then she remembered the events of the previous day. "Good morning." She said, getting up and walking over to the pantry for some breakfast. She took out one of the birds she had killed yesterday. Then she built a fire to roast it on. Then she remembered the child sitting on her bed. She grabbed one of the fruits she had gathered the previous day and went over to the boy. He held out his hands, and Senria handed him the fruit. He easily bit through, as it was very squishy, and slowly began to devour it. After awhile, Senria went to check on her bird. She was alarmed to find that the fire had escaped the small stone circle she had made and was now working it's way up to the ceiling. She tried to put it out with the water from the large jug in the pantry, but by the time she got it the fire had grown too big. It had enveloped three walls already and was making it's way over to her bed where a very scared little boy sat crying. Senria quickly went over to him and tried to carry him out of the hut, but the fire was blocking all the exits. So, in one final attempt to save the boy, she curled up on the floor and tried to shield him from the fire. But it was useless. Senria died trying to protect the boy, who soon followed.
