Hale slammed her fists on her table. Fuck. Fuck. FUCK! Her body trembled and her breathing came out in ragged gasps as she tried to control her anger. Everything went to shit and she had no one to blame but herself! If she could’ve just shut her mouth. . . . She groaned. Her fingers caressed her slightly bruised face. Adelman forced her to sign a contract. The terms had been: she must not reveal any information about the necklace and its heritage. She must pay them seventy-five thousand dollars by the end of the month. If she does not pay the money, she will be ‘eliminated’, and if she tried to it to court, the Adelmans would destroy her.
She swallowed her rage. She had to calm down. She touched her wrist, where her tattoo was, rubbing it gently. There had to be a way out of this. . . . Wait. . . no. . . There was no way out of this. . . but there was a way through this.
Her idea was illogical and unrealistic but it's not like she had anything more to lose anyway. Now, what was the name of that website again? The Dark Flaw? The Dumb Law? The Gray Claw? She clapped her hands. Ah! Right! The Gray Law! She sat down on her chair, quickly opened her computer, and typed in the website.
Nothing showed up. It just brought her to a 401 page saying that the site she was trying to find was not available. Hale frowned and decided to check the email again. I must have input the address wrong. I'll try again.
That was her plan. Or, that would have been her plan -- if the email was in her inbox. She frowned, refreshing her email. It should have been. But it wasn't. It wasn't in her "read" box, nor her "trash". Not one trace of it remained.
She groaned. The Gray Law was her only chance to get her necklace back. And now any trace of them had vanished like the wind, leaving no trace other than the memory. There must be a way to contact them. She thought to herself. But how do I reach a place that doesn't exist?
A small beep went off, startling her slightly, but it was only her phone, reminding her to keep to her schedule. She had work tomorrow, but she would call in a sick day. One look at her and the customers would start wondering about the treatment of the staff by the owner and start looking for another place to put their money. Plus, it'd give her more time to find a way to the Gray Law.
Hale had a knack for finding things, and people, who didn't want to be found. The Gray Law was just another mask to unveil.
The next morning, Hale was awoken by her 7 am alarm. As she fumbled for the button on her phone, another sound interrupted it; the small ding of a text message. Wondering who would be texting her this early in the morning, she turned on her phone to read the text. The number was "Unknown", but the text itself contained a link, the title being "TGL".
Her "just-woke-up-from-a-nightmare" induced mind took a few minutes of blankly staring at the phone to realize what the link was. She swung open her laptop (almost snapping it in half) and went to messages. Her text messaging app was connected to her laptop since Hale preferred it better than using a tiny phone. She quickly opened the link and her screen transformed into a dark and serious tone. Sometimes it scared her that she didn't feel anything when she engaged in underground activities. If she were found out, the consequences were countless.
Not like I have anything to lose anyway, she thought with a rueful smirk.
As she looked through the website she quickly figured out its contents. There was the home page with a basic introduction to the website. Search bar. Account management. Top recruits. "Expensive," Hale muttered. And then the normal recruits. There was a Hub where users interact. She chuckled as she read some of the conversations. Murderers have a sickeningly amazing sense of humor. Hale narrowed her eyes. She'd already tried hacking the website a few weeks ago but deemed it impossible after a few tries. Later, she tried hacking an account, but she couldn't do that either, therefore deemed the website safe.
She tapped on the Hub option and started her Mission Advertisement...

Hale leaned back against her chair and placed her feet upon her desk with her hands hanging to her side lazily. Here came the part she detested most: waiting. 223Please respect copyright.PENANA1liKh3ID1u
