In the life of Calypso, women didn't lead. Why would they when they had just brought death and destruction before? Calypso, however, was determined to change that. She had recently come to power over her father's land and all the people living there due to his recent death. Although the king and queen tried, there was no other heir to the throne. So now some might call her Queen, but she hated that. She just wanted to be in charge without the titles. It just separated her from others.
One of the things that helped her from being overthrown, was The Crown. The Crown had been forged with her land. It had been made out of stars and ocean water, grass and cowhide. All these things gave her people a gift, as long as they wore The Crown. Without The Crown, the kingdom was powerless.
Now, as Calypso drew herself out of bed, she looked at her large mirror. In the mirror was a girl she was growing used to, day by day. The old her had long, mahogany brown hair, and dream blue eyes. She used to have sharp features and flawless pale ivory skin. Now she had pale hair, pale blue eyes, and pale skin. She was just plain
She would always miss the old her. Her looks, yes. But also her personality. She used to be free to roam and make decisions without thinking. She would play around and not have to worry about domino effects, caused by her actions.
All she could do now was sit on a throne and listen to the complaints of her people about things even she couldn't change, and make impossible decisions. She was slowly waiting for the power to overcome her and kill her off, like all other rulers before her.
With all this on her mind, Calypso got out of bed and chose a gown for the day. It was close to a navy blue and ran down her body with the occasional diamond specked on. At her waist was a silver belt, with a moon at the center. Her sleeves were attached in a way so my shoulders were showing, but my wrists and elbows were not. The dress was strapless, so to hold it up, there was a lovely silver necklace, attached to the top of the dress.
Once she was ready, she went towards the vault, that always held The Crown, overnight or while she was away. As always there were six guards on the outside. The unusual thing was that all the guards were knocked out and on the ground.
Calypso looked at the already cracked open vault door to find no crown looking back at her. If another land had taken The Crown, they were fine, but if one of her people took it…
Not here, she thought, not where people can see you break. No one could ever see her break.
She ran down the hall, looking for someone who was concise. None had died, at least not yet. She knew for she ran to each one and checked their pulse, then ran to the next man. By the time she had made it back to her room a whole fleet of soldiers had surrounded her.
“The Crown,” She shrieked, gesturing down the hall.
“Your Majesty,” A knight said, grabbing her arm to study her. “ What happened? Was the Crown stolen?”
“Yes.” Was all she could get through her gritted teeth. Suddenly, she felt like she could faint.

The next thing she knew, she had been placed in her bed. Next to her was the castle doctor. He had tons of medical tools surrounding her. How could she faint? Her people would see her as weak and without The Crown, her people would try to take her down.
“Your… Calypso.” The doctor started, stopping himself before calling me Your Majesty knowing the punishment of five hits. “I have some… news. You were poisoned overnight, and the effects were slow to kick in. Some of the head guards think that this was by whoever took The Crown.”
I just watched him. Once he finished, I started to process. I sent the doctor out of the room and started pacing. Someone wanted me dead and was very close to getting me there.

As the week progressed, the search progressed. Soldiers had been permitted to search houses. On the fourth day, Calypso stood out in her garden, wondering who could make it to her vault, almost unnoticed. It had never been done before. Was it an inside job? Her knights turning against her?
She felt crazy. She hadn’t changed, hadn't brushed her hair, and hadn't left her grounds. If someone could get into her room, what else could they do?
As if to respond to her thought, someone shoved their hand over her mouth, muffled her scream, and then jabbed a needle into her neck, catching her as she fell towards the ground.

Calypso woke up to a numbing headache. It felt similar to when she woke up after being poisoned. She did a quick analysis of her body. The only weird factors were the gag in her mouth, her hands tied together around a post, and her legs tied together. There was no light in the room, so she couldn't tell if she was alone or not. She felt alone.
“Calypso,” A voice boomed through the room. It echoed off the walls in a way, she thought the room was large and empty.
She knew that she couldn’t respond, but she still tried screaming through her gag. The man just laughed, sounding like something that was reserved for nightmares.
“It’s great. Watching you scared.” The man said. “Oh, and by the way I have your Crown. It doesn't work like you claimed, trust me I've tried.”
In that sentence, all the pieces to the puzzle clicked. This wasn't her people. This, was Prince Cirris Wildoak of the Cruismore empire. The kingdom was known for its savage behavior. For their slaughter.
The lights were suddenly switched on, letting me explore the room. As I had guessed, this was an abandoned warehouse. In front of me was the prince, with his short black hair, honey skin, and animal tooth dagger.
“I expected better from you.” He said squatting down and holding the dagger to my throat. “Although it's not a surprise we beat you, it's just a shame it was under your downfall” He stated, a matter of factly, holding the dagger at an angle so I was looking into his Nordic blue eyes. Then he quickly stood up, drawing a speck of blood on my neck, and started towards the only door in the warehouse.
“Oh keep your Crown,” He said, walking back and placing it on my head. “It doesn’t do anything anyway.”
Before he left, I felt the power flow with my blood, blessing me. Little did he know with it on, I had telekinesis abilities. There was a reason I was desperate to get it back. I searched for something to use, and to my delight, found a crowbar.
As it started flying towards his head, I could see the fear in Prince Cirris’s eyes. He knew he made a mistake. The crowbar met his head with a satisfying thunk, and then I let my head find the knots tying my hands and feet together. I finished in record time, faster than I have ever practiced.
I stalked towards the prince. He was unconscious like I planned, and I took the string he tied me up with, and tied him to the post.
“I make people regret hurting me. You're just an unfortunate soul who decided to try.” I said then spat on him.
As I left, I decided to set fire to the warehouse. Get rid of one more enemy. There was no escape for him, I knew it.
As I walked back into the castle, I knew I looked like a mess, but I had never felt more alive. And never more insane48Please respect copyright.PENANAG0IHHGCwoA
