Racism

1.the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
2.prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
I've included this definition for a reason, because I'm beginning to wonder if people know what the term racism means.
A unarmed black man gets shot in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and everyone shouts racism. Honestly, the whole racism thing has gotten out of hand. Does it matter that the man went for the officer's gun? That they found his fingerprints on the officers gun? That he ran toward and was on top of the officer at the time he pulled the trigger?
An unarmed black teenage is shot, people yell racism. Does the fact he drove his car through the showroom glass mean nothing? He refused to comply with the officers requests.
White police officers are afraid to confront African Americans, for fear that whatever they do will be called racism. Those officers didn't shoot because of those men's race, they used their guns to do their job. Were I in their situation, I would have probably done the same regardless of the person's skin tone. Race isn't the factor here. The White community doesn't complain when an unarmed Caucasian is shot or killed by an African American police officer. In fact, it rarely makes the headlines.818Please respect copyright.PENANAU9NzfKjamb
People are too quick to jump to the term racism. The Confederate Flag may have represented slavery at the time, but it represented so much more than that, it's a symbol of heritage. People say it offends all of the African American community, but if that is so, then why does a friend of mine, who is African American, fly a confederate flag in his front yard, and have a tattoo of the confederate flag. To some people the Confederate Flag stands for southern pride. I don't wear a shirt with the Confederate flag to be racist, I wear it because I'm proud of my heritage (not all of it).
Yes, racism is still alive. But you can't blame everything that happens to the Black community, or to be politically correct, African American community, on racism, because that isn't the truth. Police officers have been wounded and killed recently, for not using a gun when they needed to, simply for fear of being accused of racism and losing their job. Instead we have riots over the death of a man who, if you asked me, deserved to be shot for going for the officers gun. One of the cops present was an African American male, and he stood up for the officer who shot the unarmed man, simply because the man was doing something illegal. What was the officer supposed to do, let him have the gun? Hand it to him? Because he may as well, seeing as doing his job makes him racist.
Honestly, it sickens me. Yes, their are bad cops in this world. Yes, their are those who are racist. If believing a man who proved himself to be a threat and went for an officer's gun deserved what he got makes me racist then someone needs to update the definition of racism.

The views present are my own. I am not racist, and am tired of the word racist being thrown in my face. I have even been told I was racist for not giving a student in my class, who was African American, a piece of gum. I wasn't aware not sharing my last piece of gum made me racist. If anyone wishes to argue any points here, go ahead. Any comments are appreciated, but you respect my views, I'll respect your and we will get along just fine.818Please respect copyright.PENANAWI41FVaJAw
