Keith sat down next to me, putting his back against the tree, “Sooo, what's the problem?”
“Who says there's a problem?”
“The fact that you wanted to meet in person instead of just calling me back.”
“Oh… Yeah.”
“So, what is it?” He asked again, and I handed him my phone, “Ew. This is terrible.”
“What's terrible?” Alan asked from behind me,
“Um, nothing.”
“Are you sure?” She sat down in between Keith and I, “I know that Xavier found out your phone number, and leaked it… Are people harassing you?”
“Yeah… They are… But that's okay. I don't mind.” I smiled,
“I hope not. You're a pretty cool dude, Jasper.”
“Thanks, Alan.”
“You literally don't need to thank me, but yeah. I'll flood you with compliments if you need it, since I technically have your number now.”
“That's kinda creepy, Alan.” Keith chuckled,
“Well, here, hand me your phone.” I complied with her, and she entered her number into my phone, “There we go.”
“Y'know… You're pretty nice for someone who hangs out with Xavier.” Keith muttered,
“Xavier's really not that bad of a guy,” Alan shrugged,
“Sure, he isn’t. I totally believe that.”
“Seriously, he isn’t. It was the way he was raised.”
“So? You can unlearn things.”
“There’s other stuff going on too, you’ll figure it out.”
“Whatever that means…” We were quiet for a while, until Keith groaned, “I’m bored…”
“Uhh… let’s play a game I guess?” I muttered,
“Like what?”
“I don’t know.”
“How about truth or dare?”
“I guess… You first.”
“Keith, truth or dare?”
“Uhhh, truth?”
“Do you like Xavier in a romantic way?”
“What kinda question is that?”
“Dude, you check him out all the time.” I scoffed,
“I do not!”
“Yes, you do. Now answer my question!” Alan demanded,
“Fine, he’s really damn hot, but that’s not important! Now it’s my turn… Jasper, truth or dare?”
“Um, dare.”
“I dare you to kiss Alan.”
“Ew, what the hell?” Alan scrunched up her face, “No offense, Jasper. I’m just hella aromantic and asexual, so…”
“Um, can I have another one?”
“Nope.”
“I hate you. Alan… I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it.” She pulled me in, and placed her thumb on my lips, using her hands to hide it, before kissing her thumb,
“See, it wasn’t that hard.”
“Uh-huh…”
“Alan, T or D?”
“Uhhh, dare?”
“I dare you to slap Keith, because he's a jerk.”
“Wooow,” Keith shook his head, before Alan lightly slapped him,
“My turn. Keith, truth or dare? Choose wisely…”
“Pfft, you are so non-confrontational, dare me.”
“I dare you to kiss Xavier.”
“What?! No way! He'll fucking kill me!”
“Too bad, I just texted him and told him to come.”
“Why did you do this?!” Keith groaned, only getting a cackle in response.
“Let's get out of the way, yeah?” Alan and I went over to a nearby bench, Alan taking my jacket, and pulling it's hood up in order to disguise herself. It didn't take long for Xavier to get here.
Xavier took a minute to search the park, before slowly moving towards Keith, seeming to feel anxious, “Where's Alan?”
“She walked off somewhere, but I actually want to talk to you about something…”
“No. Absolutely not. When Alan gets back tell her I left.” Xavier attempted to walk away, but Keith grabbed his hand, sending an unreadable expression to Xavier’s face, which made him seem almost robotic,
“Oh god.” Alan chuckled,
“What?”
“He's literally too queer to function.”
“He's queer?”
“No shit, now shush,”
“Let go of me you fag!”
“No, let me talk,”
“Fuckin’ hell... Just make it quick.” Xavier turned to face him, and Keith pulled himself in, leaning in to kiss Xavier, who slowly let himself sink into it, before abruptly pushing him backwards, and stepping slowly away, shaking his head, tears slipping down his face, “Stop.”
“Wait-“ Keith tried to grab his hand, but Xavier pulled himself away,
“No. No. I can’t do this, Keith.”
“Why not? You allowed me to kiss you, isn’t this what you want?”
“Yes, of course I want it. I want it so bad, but I can’t do it.”
“But why can’t you?”
“Because I can’t deal with these stupid repercussions! I don’t want to lose my mother or my father. I don’t want to deal with the harassment. I’m already way too suicidal without it.”
“Why do you care what they think? Trust me, even though you lose those people, you become so much more happier with yourself, and new people will come, that were better than the last.”
“I've lost nine siblings, Keith, it isn't worth it. Please, don't tell anyone about this. Not even Jasper, or Alan.”
“Well- Yeah, I won't. I understand… but um… Can I atleast have your number?”
“Um… sure.” Xavier rubbed the back of his neck, and pulled out his phone, handing it to Keith, who put in his number,
“See you when you beat me up next week?”
“Heh, I'll stick to more verbal abuse. Is that cool?”
“Yeah, that's better than the usual stuff you pull,”
“I'm sorry about all the shit I've pulled too… I thought that if I harassed queer people, then that would somehow like un-gay me or whatever. It's stupid, I know.”
“Yeah, it kinda is, but internalized homophobia doesn't allow you to think logically.”
“Yeah… Anyways… I need to go, um, just tell Alan that-” Alan got up, and ran towards Xavier, and I followed behind.
“Hey, sorry, I was in the bathroom.”
“Oh. That’s okay, uh, did you need something?”
“Just for Keith to complete his dare, because you’re both shy gays who won’t get together on your own accord.”
“Uh.. Um… Wh-What?” Xavier stuttered out, slightly shaking,
“You heard me,”
“I-I’m just going to leave.”
“C’mon, Xavier, you kn0w none of us care, right? I’m aroace, Jasper is trans and pansexual, Keith is gay.”
“Y-Yeah, I know, I’m just kinda tired." Xavier muttered, avoiding eye contact with the three of us,
“Well, okay, but you better call me tonight, okay?”
“Okay, Alan.” Xavier sighed, “I will.”
