Right, so Camp Half-Blood.
It looks like your average stay away camp, except all the buildings look like they popped up from Ancient Greece and everything is on fire. I mean, not everything, but most things. Huge marble pillars that acted like torches decorated the entrance of buildings, and there were lots of cabins, all with different themes. The only normal-looking building was a baby blue ranch house at the end of a long dirt driveway.
"There's a magical border that surrounds us, so it might feel funny for a bit." Annabeth walked forward. I couldn't tell where the barrier was, so I didn't move. I looked to Kalos, who was pacing back and forth. Would you help, please?!
"Is your dog okay?" she asked.
"Um, yeah, just give me a minute with him."
She looked at me funny but nodded. "I'll come back in a bit. There are some people you'll need to see soon."
I smiled until she couldn't see me, then whipped around to face Kalos.
"Okay, I get that you're not super helpful, but I seriously need your help right now." He sniffed, almost like he understood me, but then he started barking.
"Oh my god, stop!" I hissed.
"Um, hello?" I knew that voice.
"Daisy?" I whirled around.
"Right here," she walked out some bushes behind me. I'd never seen her stand before.
"Hey, Daisy," I shoved Kalos behind me. "I'm really sorry. About everything. I was stupid and a jerk," I sighed.
She smiled sweetly like she always does.
"It's okay, Bella. You had a lot going on right from the get-go, and now you're here at camp, so we can start over!"
Kalos hopped into my arms.
"Ooh, is that a fox? It's so cute!"
"Daisy, I have to tell you something."
She pet Kalos on the head, and he licked her hand. Don't foxes... eat goats? I pulled Kalos away from her a bit.
"Okay, well let's head inside the barrier first."
"Daisy, it's about the barrier."421Please respect copyright.PENANAHW70HvD6ha
"It won't hurt you, Bella. You'll be fine!"
"No, Daisy, listen!"
She looked up from Kalos, confused.
I sighed. "Daisy, I'm telling this because I trust you."421Please respect copyright.PENANAlSx8umF6rl
And because you can't hurt me...
"I'm not a demi-god. I'm one of those monsters."
Daisy's eyes stopped smiling, but the grin itself stayed glued to her face.
"W-what?"
"I asked my dad. I'm not a demi-god. He said I'm an empousa."
Daisy stopped petting Kalos and backed away. She giggled nervously.
"You're... oh...oooooh no..."
"Yeah," I looked over her shoulder to see if Annabeth was coming back yet. "I need to leave."
"Together with a devil of seduction..." she whispered to herself.
"Um, what? Hello?" I shook her shoulder as she stared off into space. "Daisy, I need to leave."421Please respect copyright.PENANAtL5oYfoaKZ
"No!" she squeaked. "I mean, you can't this time. I know for a fact that you have to be here! The Oracle said so!"
"What? What's the Oracle?"
"Who, Bella, not what. And it doesn't matter! I need to tell Chiron that we found the last person for the quest. Chiron!" she started waving frantically.
"Daisy, stop! Do you have any idea what they'll do to me?"421Please respect copyright.PENANAGrlzMFvpjz
"Well, no, but-"421Please respect copyright.PENANA62TiRtv4io
"Neither do I, but I'm sure it's not good, so please let me leave!"
She sighed. "Okay, I know I messed up big time but you have to be the one in the prophecy! Just stay here and I'll explain it to them."
Kalos snorted at me. I sighed. There wasn't really any other option.
"Okay, but if I die because of a bunch of overpowered god-children, it's your fault."
"You won't die!" Daisy smiled.
It bothered me how positive she was sometimes.
"Oh, wait," she stopped, faced me, and did a little bow. "I, Daisy Thorn, give you permission to enter camp!" then she pranced away.
Did that actually do anything? I swatted my hand in the air in front of me, trying to feel the barrier.
"Um, Bella?" Annabeth walked out of the camp entrance.
"Oh, hey Annabeth..." I said stupidly, putting my hand down.
Can I get in now, or...?
"Is... everything okay?"
"Yeah, Kalos just had to um... use the bathroom."421Please respect copyright.PENANASPNKnOZgG5
"Right," she said, eyeing Kalos. "Ready to meet everyone? We have a lot to do, and Percy and I will be leaving soon, so I'd like to introduce you before all that."
"Um, okay."
I braced as I followed Annabeth through the pillars, but nothing happened. I noticed that Kalos didn't follow. Something told me he was finally trying not to screw me over, so I let him wander off. Or maybe he let me wander off. I never really know.
"So, there are the strawberry fields," Annabeth pointed to a huge field. "It's the cover-up for the camp."
"Right," I said, trying to follow along. Did people just miss the huge marble pillars or is that a farm thing?
"And over there are all the cabins. You'll be staying with cabin eleven until we learn who your godly parent is. Oh, and over there is the forest. We play capture the flag and other games in there."
The forest was massive and dense, like something out of a fairy tale. "Wow," I breathed. "It's huge."
"Bit of a city slicker, huh?" The boy who was in my fountain a while ago, Percy I think, walked up to us with that stupid grin on his face. "That forest is nothing."
"You're from the upper east side, Percy," Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Anyway, Chiron is probably going to want to meet you before we go."
"Where are you going?"
"On a mission to save the world from an evil titan. No big deal," Percy smiled proudly.
"On a quest," Annabeth glared at him. "And it's a pretty difficult one. Stop being a show-off."
I walked with them to what they called the 'Big House'. Not very good at naming things, clearly.
"Ah yes, hello!" A man with the lower body of a horse greeted me. I didn't mean to be rude, but my mouth hung open. Annabeth jabbed me in the ribs.
"Uh, sorry. Hi," I said awkwardly.
"My name is Chiron. Daisy brought you here, yes?"
"Well, technically Annabeth did, but yeah," Daisy blushed.
"Right, well you're in good hands, Bella. We'll be back soon."
"Yeah, just need to find a 'devil of seduction' to come with us..." Percy sighed. "Guess that means finding Tammi or Kelli." 421Please respect copyright.PENANAqgjni595gY
I looked at Daisy nervously, and she looked at me the same way.
"Um, right. You two do that!" Daisy bleated. "Chiron, can we talk to you?"
I looked at Daisy, eyes wide and shaking my head subtly.
"Why, yes, of course. Take a seat." he gestured to the porch chairs.
Daisy and I sat down.
"So, um..." Daisy tucked a tuft of brown hair behind her ear. "Remember the last line of the prophecy?"
"'To destroy a titan of destruction'," he said, looking into the sky. "A most disturbing line."
"No, sorry, the one before that."
"'Together with a devil of seduction'," he said, puzzled. "Daisy, what are you trying to say?"
"Well, I...I think, um..." she fidgeted, and looked like she was holding back tears. Daisy never handled pressure well.
"It's me," I said. "I think I'm the 'devil of seduction'."
