After settling into my job and feeling a sense of comfort, my best friend and I made a decision that would change the course of our lives. We realized it was time to upgrade ourselves—to learn new skills, achieve higher qualifications, and move toward a better future. Together, we took a leap of faith and signed up for car driving lessons, something we’d both been eager to do for a long time. But that wasn’t all—we also decided to pursue a part-time degree in management.
The journey was anything but easy. Balancing work, studies, and life was a challenge. Assignments were tough, deadlines were stressful, and there were moments when my anxiety crept back in. But having my best friend by my side made everything feel manageable. We laughed through the struggles, shared countless jokes, and kept each other motivated. No matter how hard things got, we always wore big smiles on our faces. Laughter became our secret weapon to get through it all.
Even during moments when I felt overwhelmed or anxious, it would only last for a brief second before disappearing—because I had the best support system. We didn’t just dream of a better future; we actively worked toward it.
While studying, we both decided to make a bold career move. With the support of my boss, who encouraged me every step of the way, we applied for new jobs in KL and were thrilled to secure positions as Customer Relationship Officers. Once again, my best friend and I were embarking on a new chapter together, ready to face whatever challenges came our way.
At first, I was excited about this new journey. But as I began working, I noticed something wasn’t right. The daily routine was exhausting—I had to wake up at 4:30 a.m. to catch the train to KL, work long hours, and then return home late at night, often around 9 p.m. The constant travel drained me, and my health started to take a toll. Migraines, PCOS issues, and sheer fatigue made me question if I had made the right decision.
The first month was tough. I felt unhappy and struggled to adjust to the new routine. But by the second month, I started to find my footing. I adapted to the rhythm of my new life and began feeling a sense of stability. Just when I thought things were falling into place, life threw me another curveball—the third month brought the announcement of a lockdown.
And that’s when the real sadness began.
