A tower, 50 feet tall and in the middle of a lake. Holding whom? A princess but not just any princess, her name is Luna Flores. Being normal wasn't fun at all to her, and being stuck in a tower for most of her life wasn't helping. So she asked her father to get her something, it wasn't your usual request from a girl of high status. She asked for a dragon, to guard her but the rest is a mystery.
I blinked my eyes and closed the script my mother had handed to me this morning, I was interested in her. But mother wouldn't let me race on my white stallion all the way to her tower. Mother would just put it aside for my other duties as prince were more important then that. I place the script back in its place and walk out of my room.
" Oh Zachary there you are " mother yelled
" I'm here as always mother " I groan as I stand up tall
" That princess you told me about, it would do us some good to go get her " she spoke and patted my cheek
" Wait.. for real " I smile and hug her
Without letting her speak I ran for the stables, its been my dream ever since she was brought to the tower. I'm 18 at the moment, and she is just 16. Yeah I know sounds wrong in so many ways, but love is love right? I get my horse ready and jump onto his back, my younger brother was confused but laughed as I ran off.
I had a smile on my face as I raced down the path into town, I wasn't sure where this princess was so I asked around. Tying my horse up I walked up into the local pub we had in town. As I walked in people became silent, I rolled my eyes and took my hat off of my head, they all chuckled and went back to talking. Strange.. Was my father here a while ago.? I sit down at the bar and tap my fingers on the wooden table in front of me.
" Oh hello young Prince, what can I get for you " The bartender asked
" Beer please " I reply
" Coming right up. But what brings you into town " The bartender asked once more
" I'm looking for Luna " I admit slightly blushing at the idea of being laughed at.
The bartender just looks at me, he grabs my collar pulling me close to his face. Then he gave me a weird face.
" She's dangerous, the last time a guy tried saving her she killed him herself. Its crazy man " The bartender let go and was actually being serious
I nod my head and finish my drink, leaving a nice tip I head back out to my horse. I jump up onto his back and ride to her tower, which was right by the town. I stop at the lake, fog covering the grounds.
" What the hell, how am I going to get to the tower " I groan and plant my palm to my face.
I sigh as I remove my palm from my face, it was clear that I had to find a way to that tower. I wasn't stopping here, or well there might be a monster of some sort guarding it. Like a dragon maybe, or a sea monster. But that's probably highly doubtful since dragons have been gone for so many years, especially sea monsters. I grab my horses rein and walk around the lake trying to find a path way or bridge to the small tower in the middle of it. Searching through the brushes and trees, even by the shore. There was nothing, no way to get to the middle of the lake.
' How am I going to do this ' I ask myself putting a hand to my chin
My horse snickered and jumped out of my hands, I was confused. I couldn't see anything, except for my ride home running away from me. Rolling my eyes I try to find the thing that scared my horse.
" What was that " I whisper looking to the right of me.
A girl, in a hoodie was slowly walking across the lake, my eyes couldn't believe what I was seeing. I slowly walk to where she was, her figure was disappearing into the fog. I could make out small stepping stones in the water, that was a good find. I wanted to scream to her, but that would scare her most of all. Without saying a word I followed her taking my time on the stepping stones that were smaller then my foot.
Seeing that I made it to the tower, I sighed and caught my breath. I almost ran through those stones, even though that was highly unlikely of me to do so. Finding my way around the building, I found some stairs that lead upwards. Walking up them I could hear her speaking to someone, but I thought she was left alone on this island tower. I tip toed my way up the stairs, I heard as she walked to the door. I didn't know what to do, I just slammed my body against the stone wall as the door open. My heart was pounding, she was looking around, the fog was covering my body so she couldn't see me. Then I heard a laughter, that didn't sound pretty.
" Hoo~ what do we have here " She purred
I wasn't sure if she was talking to me or someone else. I look in her direction, yeah she was looking at me. Her golden eyes looked sad, but her expression was angry, and they were like a cats.
" Hi princess, I'm Zachary " I whisper intimidated of her
" Oh, your the handsome prince. Come on in " She chirped and walked back into the tower
Now I was confused even more, I stood up scratching my hair as I followed her into the room. It was a huge room, she did have a bed, a desk, even a smaller room for her restroom.. And another for her closet, wasn't it just supposed to be one room.
" So, what brings a prince to my domain " she giggled sitting on her bed
" Wait, your not stuck here?" I asked thinking about what was guarding this
" Oh, I was a couple years ago. But something happened, if your wondering where the dragon went. Yeah that's me " she admitted
" So your the dragon guarding the tower, but how? " I asked once more wanting my questions to be answered.
" My necklace, see " she pulled her necklace out of her dress, it was an ancient symbol for dragon changer
I nod my head as she put it back under her dress, what now? I couldn't think of any other questions to ask her and it didn't seem like she needed any saving. I was shaking a lot, trying to come up with a question that didn't sound inappropriate or weird. I sighed and watched her smile at me, twirling her hair with her index finger made me go crazy. The slightest flirt and I was a mad man.
" I was wondering, if you wanted anyone to save you " I asked
" Is that all you came for" She rolled her eyes, probably wanting something else. " But I do want to get away from this mess my father got me into " she sighed
" I can do that for you if you want me to " I gestured, she looked at me as her eyes lit up with so much emotion
Even though I didn't think she would want to leave, she stood up and grabbed a small bag. Putting the most valuable things she had into it. She walked outside and I followed her. She was gone, she left without me.
" Up here prince charming " she roared
" Wait.. I'm afraid of heights. I can't " I mutter as I hear her laugh
" Oh stop it, hop on " she chuckled and blew smoke into my face
Without thinking I jumped onto her back, that was easier then I thought. But why was she hated by most of the guys in this village. I will never be able to figure that one out, but I do know my mother will be the happy one.
" What was that " she asked
" Uh.. Nothing " I stutter nervously laughing.
