You stand in the quiet, the only sound echoing in your ears is the rain and thunder outside. The lightning brightens your living room but fades too quickly, leaving you again in the powerless darkness. "Hello?" you call into the shadows with as much courage you can muster. Storms weren't your thing and a string of unsolved murders hadn't helped.641Please respect copyright.PENANAwintiGdIhu
You swallow hard to wet your drying and tightening throat. You bring your hands together close to your chest. You try scanning the void around you. Your breathing slightly grows quick. You're safe...you're perfectly safe... you tell yourself in some hope of reassurance. Your palms grow sweaty as you take a tiny step back while you slightly cower down.
A sound of the floors creaking to your side causes you to jump. "Eek!" you squeak involuntarily. "Wh-who's th-th-there?" no answer comes to your stammered question. You cower down further with another step back while turning your head to the left and to the right. You try humming nervously your favorite song from childhood for comfort. Your heartbeat is rising along with the sense of unease spreading in your mind.
A mighty bolt of lightening strikes which causes your entire living room to be illuminated. You jump and squeak from fright of this loud 'boom', resulting in you closing your eyes with your head ducked. You slowly open your eyes and look in front of you just in time to see another person smirking at you. The darkness quickly engulfs everything once more. Your heart is pounding after its jump with your throat feeling like someone is gripping it tightly.
You try to scream but your voice is gone. Quickly you turn and try to run for another room. Your breathing is coming in fast pants while your body feels like someone has set it on fire. Your mind is racing with horrible thoughts. You were supposed to had been home alone as had normally been the usual at night. In your blindness, you feeling something with your outstretched trembling hand. It is hard yet soft and is wearing fabric.
Your face pales and your heart drops into your stomach. Your legs immediately try to carry you backwards from this anomaly. You quickly feel an arm wrap roughly around your waist, pulling you in close to this unwelcomed body. They grin with a chuckle close to your face. Their minty breath cools your hot skin, resulting in a powerful cold chill to serge through you and across your flesh. Tears are welling up in the corners of your eyes while you try not hyperventilating. "P-p-please, s-spare m-m-me." You barely choke out in a meek voice.
"Don't worry," the person says in a low quiet voice against the skin of your neck. The unwanted intruder licks your clammy flesh. You inhale sharply while trying to pull away. This results in the hold tightening but suddenly, their face backs away and their grip starts to loosen. You feel confusion and your movements are slow due to your mind being unsure as to what is going on.
You start to feel a small sense of relief as it feels like the person has departed since you aren't feeling their arm anymore. The storm starts to quiet outside. Your heart is slowing down and your shoulders start to relax. Lightning flashes suddenly and you gasp. Your voice is silenced swiftly by the face of the person, baring sharpened fangs, dashing forwards and latching into your throat roughly. Your eyes are wide with your mouth opened.
The color drains from your skin as the sick sound of flesh being dug into fills the quiet air. You start to lose a sense of reality with the darkness closing in. You hear a chuckle from the person's throat just before they make the final chomp, sending you into eternal darkness.
