Never to give up
Never to say no to opportunities
-what I learned in life, helped my strong willed ways.
No one has a wall interfering their way to success.
As hard as it might sound, everything has a solution.
Just take a deep breath, and face it.
You will the light at the end of the tunnel.
My parents taught me to be responsible and respectful. Great values I’m happy I was taught and learned.
That still resonates in my mind - never say never.
Never give up.
Never loose faith.
Never loose respect, for you and for others.
Then, I had to find how life is in reality, by myself.
Once reached the majority of age, started to work. 2 years prior, at 16 was already doing co-op.
I was in the verge and eager to show my family and 3 brothers, I was a woman well capable to succeed as same as my brothers. With the only privilege of learning to be honest and respectful, had to survive on this reality.
NOW
We all grew up in different times, no way to compare us.
We all grew up differently.
Each of us concentrated in our studies, and finished our careers studies.
And graduated with flying colours.
But there was something else I wanted to achieve; being successful and being able to bring home the bacon, also to have a family, later, later on.
Once time came, we all migrated to a different country, to start a new life, to the land of new possibilities.
A new door opened for us. Got a job, luckily, it helped me to improve my English. This time at new company that was just starting. As the company grew, I grew as well.
New opportunities, new challenges needed to be conquered.
I LOVED IT
I thrived in that environment.
Eager to learn, I took every possible opportunity available related to my field.
Disappointed by the fact that there was no future for me in my field, I decided to use what I learned to be applied in other fields and jobs.
It was needed to organize a little show room with the products we offered, I helped them for the set up.
It was needed to created profiles for the new products. I helped them.
New products, new labels. I was given the opportunity to design them.
Purchasing samples needed to be filed. I started to document them and match them with final invoices and shipped products.
Filing of documentation was needed. I started to file away the documentation.
A new filing system came to life.
I started out a visual catalogue of ingredients missing and consistency of the product to the customer point of purchasing.
Without knowing it, something that started like a game for me, it turned into a profession:
A quality control program specialist.
Learned to trace products through their manufacturing process.
Learned about purchasing.
I started to taste teas.
I could point out what was missing or wrong in a blend.
With the assistance of the buyers, profiles where brought to life. As this acknowledgment was put down into writing, my acknowledgment on tea’s increased. I became a tea sommelier.
Encouraging and interesting
EXCITING
The company started to grow. Very lucky, very exciting. Our product started to be packed, blended and sold more often. It was needed to confirm quality control measures for the finished product.
It was offered to me. I said YES
writing those good safety control manuals and processes strengthened my English skills, it improved my speaking skills too.
When the C-TPAT Program (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) was required for importing goods, I had to cite possible scenarios.
I felt like a CSI agent….
Had to regularly cross the Canada-US border many times to meet US customs officers to set up an approved state of the art overnight storage of our finished products waiting for approval to be delivered in many cities of the USA. This warehouse was in Buffalo, USA.
Got to know and meet people in Buffalo, just a couple of hours from our main office.
New certification required to visit growers. Conducting growers audits were required. Trips between the buyer, myself and the prospect supplier were scheduled. We found ourselves flaying everywhere, myself auditing the new supplier, and the buyer to get to know in person our new supplier.
As the demand increased, new products were created, more personal was need to pack our product. A chain of hotels approached us for our products to be included in their menu, and offered in their rooms. That included in their menu at their restaurants, increase the already new trending of drinking the most healthy product: TEA.
New blends and new chooses soon added to the existing market, and new exotic and healthy choices invaded the market.
My experience in the field saw itself growing and being nurtured by new exciting opportunities.
This new world of Teas never gets a dull moment.
Looking back and insight at it, it’s still innovating it’s uses not only as a drink, it’s now an ingredient used in cooking , bakery, garment dye, hair dye.
As these innovations show up in every one’s day life, my acknowledgment of this healthy product no one ever thought of, it has become my new niche.
The outcome, my acknowledgment about a new product that transforms itself into many uses to aid for, sort of multitasked little plant (Camellia Sinensis), that caught me without notice and inadvertently introduced me to a new world:
The world of writing.
I BECAME A WRITER
