“August has to be found, you understand that.” The director hadn’t gotten a good night's sleep in weeks. He stayed up every night trying to calm his mind that raced around the prophecy, August...and the chosen one. Blaze. The one whom he had expected to swoop in and put him in his rightful place as the ruler of Ericlyn. Instead who he got was a scruffy and skinny rebellious teenage girl whom he had been trying his whole life to get rid of. It would be easier to just kill her now and stage someone else for the prophecy, someone like him.
“I understand.” The boy cracked his knuckles, a nervous habit of his.
“And kill #092. You may know her as Blaze.”
“I know who she is, she was in my parish.”
“I do hope that that doesn’t make you soft.”
“I’m not soft.”
“Then stop showing you’re nervous.” The boy stopped cracking his knuckles and looked at the director with green yellow eyes. “You were top of your class Fayis, do not fail me.”
“I won’t, sir.”
“Good. Remember, no mercy, kill Blaze. And you will be the most celebrated Drage in all of Ericlyn! Perhaps legends of your victory may even reach the Human Realm!”
“More than the chosen one?” The director chuckled and Fayis gulped at his question.
“My boy, you are the chosen one.”
