Over the following months, Jennifer's life had improved since she and Plastique Gal had interrogated School Marm. Her superpowers had returned. She felt great being Mother Hulker again. Plus, Quickie woke from his coma.
Jennifer and Gal were becoming close friends. Gal had enrolled in college working towards an engineering degree. By contrast, Jennifer was taking a leave of absence from her professorship.
As time progressed, Mother Hulker, a.k.a., Jennifer, thought it was time to take stock of her life.
One day, she took out a legal pad and wrote down her accomplishments during the past year:

"After working for years as a prosecutor, I went into private practice, then became a professor"
"In private practice, I lost a case that said people who name themselves after superheroes - like I had - infringed on the intellectual property rights of comic book companies owning the names"
"Yet, I prevailed in a subsequent case that held cosplayers did not commit similar infringement"
"On my first day as a law professor, I had my first battle with a supervillain - named Feral Fellow"
"I was able to stop Feral Fellow from killing Quickie, a hero I've subsequently fallen in love with"
"Plus, I became friends with Plastique Gal, a former vigilante, capable of growing up to fifty feet"

Next, Jennifer drew a line on the pad beneath those bullet points, and wrote down her failures:

"A superbeing named Samurai Salamander injured Quickie so bad that she put him into a coma"
"A superbeing named Siphonetic threatened to take away the city mayor's diphthongs, and instead he totally took away my voice, his own voice, and the mayor's voice for a long stretch"
"A villain named School Marm had hypnotized Samurai Salamander and Siphonetic to stop and hinder me"
"School Marm hypnotized me too, until vigilante Plastique Gal intervened, breaking the trance"

To wrap it up, Jennifer drew a line and wrote what was learned from interrogating the villain School Marm:

"She had hypnotized my co-counsel Benjamin Cardozo to undermine that same cosplayer case"
"She had hypnotized me in a failed attempt to get me to file a Motion to Dismiss my cosplayer case"
"In sum, School Marm used a device that searched her victim's 'online footprint', revealed back to them their worst secrets, and hypnotized them in their weakened-from-shame state of mind."
