Another Mage hurtled through the air beside Ellian, landing next to him, cold and lifeless. The battlefield was full of bright and shadowy spells, the sky was crimson and bodies flung about every few seconds. Ellian clutched his wand and collapsed against the nearest wall. He cast several spells towards the opposition, one of which struck an enemy. His friend lay beside him, paralysed with fear. In the next moment, the wall exploded, shattering into fragments. Bricks flew everywhere, one striking his friend on the head. Ellian dashed towards his friend as fast as he could, but he was too late. His friend was pierced by a crimson beam and he fell over motionless and dead.
Ellian regained his senses and sprinted towards another wall. It was complete chaos; beams of light streaked past him, gusts of fierce wind knocking him to the ground. Suddenly, a powerful force hit him, propelling him backward for what felt like an eternity. As he flew through the air, a glimmer caught his eye. He crashed into the ground hard, immense pain searing through his back. Despite the agony, he got up and searched for the source of the shine. He scanned the area and saw a glowing white crystal. He rushed towards it and seized it. A white flash enveloped him, and he felt his hand absorbing the crystal. After several long seconds, the crystal vanished as if it had never existed. Suddenly, he collapsed to the ground and blacked out.
Ellian shot up out of a hospital bed, his neck and back throbbing with pain. He observed his surroundings, he saw many heavily injured mages around him. His wand and a glass of water lay on his bedside table and it was very quiet. A nurse walked by him and he called out to her, "Where am I!". She spun around and informed, "You are in the mage healing centre, you were unconscious when you were found by a scout". Ellian quickly exclaimed "I found a glowing white crystal on a rock, when I held it, it vanished!". The nurse replied, "Just rest, okay". Ellian feeling foolish awkwardly replied "Thank you.." and fell silent. He momentarily asked "What is the state of the war?" and the nurse replied "The war is over, the maloevant forces retreated". Then she departed.
