Episode 26 - A Second Attempt
I was about to sit down on my bed, but Sebastian caught my arm and reeled me forward, making me gasp and stumble when I clashes with his chest.
I gazed up in annoyance, eyes narrowing. “What the hell what that for?”
He remained silent as he stepped over to the mattress and drew back the sheets, and I watched him carefully.
He just picked up a small, thin, shiny object and examined it.
My eyes widened.
A pin? A needle? No… a pin from a sewing set.
Sebastian just raised it up and lightly ran his tongue along it.
I stiffened despite the fire rising inside.
He just looked over at me, smiling. “Poisoned. If this pricked you, death would be clear.”
I stared for a moment, and he just stepped around me and tossed it into the trash can.
He then stopped next to me. “Come, master. Someone’s clearly trying to kill you, so I think better if we go to a room where they will not know you will be.”
He lightly pulled off his tailcoat and wrapped it around my shoulders, letting the collar drape over my head to conceal my face.
I gazed up hazily, but he threw me up at an instant, making me yelp as my legs flew upward at the act. But I suddenly landed in his arms, bouncing slightly before I settled down.
“Come now,” he said, eyes softening. “We must hurry.”
I set my head on his shoulder, wrapping my arms around his neck to keep myself steady.
And maybe seeking a little comfort… I wouldn’t ever admit that, though.
He then carried me out of the room, smiling slyly as if he could tell I was giving in.
