Episode 18 Continued - Little Spy
It was eight in the morning now, and Yumi hadn’t left her bedroom since four this morning.
But… despite her being a stubborn child and spying on me all night, I knew it was time to wake her up. Or at least… check to make sure she was in her bedroom.
I briefly knocked on the bedroom door, holding her tray of tea in my hand. “Master, it’s me.”
There was no response.
I just opened the door, walking further in the room.
But when I locked eyes with her bed, I blinked when I found it empty.
I sighed then. “Of course she’s not here. Why would she be?”
I then turned and gazed further in the house, scanning the rooms for her soul.
Scarlet… Cammie… Carter… Maddox…
They were all still in bed, of course, but where was master?
I blinked when I saw her soul, and I stared in that direction. “Why are you in there?”
I then closed her bedroom door and stepped down the hall, making my way down to the main level before turning and going down to the basement.
I then continued down the quiet halls before I stopped at my bedroom door.
Was she snooping again? Of course, she was. What else would she be doing?
I then knocked. “Master, I know you’re in there.”
There was no response.
I just sighed and opened the door, gazing around for her presence.
I blinked then, lips parting.
Yumi was on my bed, snuggled under the covers and asleep, her head pressed to my pillow as she breathed softly.
The covers were puffed around her, and her lashes were glistening under the small amount of morning sun that cast through the windows.
My lashes lowered as I smiled. “Very needy, indeed.”
I just closed the door behind me and set the tea on a table by my bed, stepping over to her as she remained sound asleep.
I then sat on the bed, pulling some of her hair away from her face. “Master.”
She groaned in annoyance and turned her face further into the pillow.
“Still tired?” I said, chuckling. “You see, this is what happens when you refuse to sleep at night.”
She just pulled the covers higher over herself and turned away, clearly trying to sleep longer.
I just watched her for a moment, and I smiled gently.
I just kicked off my shoes and lowered myself onto the bed beside her, got under the covers, and watched her curiously.
But I decided to bother her and pulled her shoulder, so she faced me.
She kicked out her legs in annoyance and whined like a child, but I just pulled her against me and wrapped my arms around her.
She stopped fighting then, clearly half-asleep right now.
After a moment, she settled in my grip, burying her face in my shoulder as I smiled.
I just pulled the covers higher over her. “Twenty more minutes, okay?”
She never responded, clearly lost in those dreams of hers.
