I don’t want hands that feel like feathers—

Or him to use four words instead of three,

I want his heart to be seen,

But not on his sleeve,

Basically someone that isn’t like me.

I don’t want to talk him down in the night—

When dark thoughts lead him aside

I want his tongue to be stayed,

When he’s going away,

Because he’ll leave all the same.

I don’t want him to read my writing—

And damn him if he demands it,

It’s not as if I love him

And god, that sounds dim.

I’ll never find someone like this.

I don’t want to love, I want to feel love,

And that will never be fair to him.
