Little Alice sat in front of the television, her parents changing it to a news channel. The reporter on screen spoke, regally so. “Hello and welcome to GNN. It is 8p.m. pacific time, and there is news to report. Today, Congress and the Senate unanimously approved a massive spending bill drafted by Madame President, which secures funds for the Department of Public Infrastructure and other parts of the government. Within the bill is NASA’s cut, who has received the same amount as the DPI, a ninety eight trillion dollar payday. It will be used to, according to them, increase a ‘dwindling survival rate’.”

Alice smiled. She liked NASA! She wanted to become an engineer for the agency, a dream that she kept close to her. She looked at the flatscreen, interested. “Madame President also stated this- of which, in these dire times, still met controversy.” The screen changed, and a dark woman with flowing brown hair stood, upon a podium, an American flag with the usual fifty-two stars behind her.
