Their footsteps was all that could be heard through the 3rd floor hallway. They wanted to know each other, but in order to do so, they needed to remember themselves.16Please respect copyright.PENANAYTBVjj3W1h
Bits and pieces of information were all they had, slowly coming together like a jigsaw. They didn't pick up the pieces, they didn't put them in place, all they did was observe. "It's not your fault, Terry."
"I felt something for a little bit, it made me nauseous, maybe I hated that class after all."
"I hated it as well."
Eren opened a door to another room. It was an art class, likely a class dedicated more towards the art of painting. "This one feels important, but I feel like I'm not supposed to be here."
"Yeah, I get the jitters as well." Terry turned towards Eren seeing him staring off into space. "Are you okay? Did you remember something?"
Eren fell to the floor, grabbing at his head. "Mei... Mel? What the hell is happening to me?" Sweat poured down his face as he gasped for air. Terry closed the door, picking Eren up and carrying him towards the nearby infirmary.
"We're almost there, just hang tight."
"I-I can walk."
"Are you sure? You don't look too good. Did you have a flashback or something?"
"Something like that. I just... felt like I was about to remember something, it felt really important, and it was like my head... it kept telling me it wasn't the right time."
"You hearing things now? Damn, we're both going to lose our minds before we figure anything out."
Eren looked at Terry with disgust, yet he couldn't figure out why. Perhaps it was Terry's slow ability to understand things, he didn't seem all that bright, and maybe ignorance just pissed Eren off.16Please respect copyright.PENANAYxF72j10uV
He took a deep breath, trying to regain his self control. "Want to get something to eat?" Eren suggested. "The cafeteria, should be on the bottom floor."16Please respect copyright.PENANAdAmjmFntsg
"Yeah." Terry answered, controlling the urge to crack a joke. "We could check, but there might not be any food there."16Please respect copyright.PENANAkUaLGaezFl
They walked down the stairs to the first floor hallway, catching sight of a nearby bulletin board. "This school has a lot of clubs." Eren said, scanning the list. "I think I was in this one."
"You were in the drama club?"
"Heh, it sounds right, but I don't remember doing any plays, nor do I remember the people in the club. I think the teacher's name was Mr. Will... William? Willis?"16Please respect copyright.PENANAp26OT1GDFB
"Don't go freaking out again."
"It was Mr. Willis. Yeah, he thought I was really talented. I feel really bad for him, and I can't remember why."
"That's good enough for now, but we need to get to the cafeteria."16Please respect copyright.PENANAN1ks3uykHr
"O-Oh right! Sorry about that, Terry."16Please respect copyright.PENANAjZ8yBszWwB
"Do you feel sorry though?"
"What did you say?"
"N-Nothing. I guess my brain spoke on its own for a second."16Please respect copyright.PENANASe7MqoOAsv
They pushed open the double doors to the cafeteria, and sitting on the counter were two trays of food. "What the hell?" They both thought, before picking up the tray. It was the usual slop they were used to, cold and flavorless.
They regained a piece of memory about the school's history. Redwash Academy was a prestigious school, but not a school that was very picky. They accepted about any application, and their process was simple. Bring in students, find a talent, and guide them towards careers utilizing those talents.16Please respect copyright.PENANADl5414NlCy
The school's reputation was its main focus, not the well-being of its community. Profits lined the pockets of the administration instead of being reinvested into the school. Staff were underpaid, classes were dull and miserable, and the food was notoriously cheap.
Yet, no one complained, maybe they became numb to the soulless modern age, or they were just simply living their life, without putting too much attention on themselves. Eren picked at his food, taking small bites while staring at the far end of the room.
"I wonder if I ever stood on that stage before?"
Terry followed his gaze, and there was in fact a stage. The curtains closed, the lights turned off, and every second, they hoped a show would start, telling them they were part of the play.
Terry didn't respond, rather he took the last bite and carried his tray back to the counter. "Why does it make me so excited?" Eren muttered to himself. "Who am I trying to impress up there? There was somebody, wasn't there?"
An image flashed in his head, which caused him to jump out of the seat, spilling the rest of his food. "Man, you need to stop scaring me like that!" Terry shouted. He rushed over, helping Eren clean up his tray.
"Sorry I yelled... I mean, I didn't yell in a bad way, but more of a joking type of way, but it wasn't the right reaction."16Please respect copyright.PENANAScaOEg4ew4
"N-No it's fine. I don't know if I should tell you about it, but there is someone in my mind, and I keep... encountering them?"
"Then don't tell me. These memories are personal after all, just take it easy. We have enough time to figure this out."
Terry was slightly envious, but didn't seem to show it. A part of him feared that Eren would make it out of this mess before he did, and at some point, he would be left alone in this place, surrounded by nothing but silence. This school had livable conditions, but would you willingly live in a place without others?
This wouldn't be the same as living in a single person apartment, where the sounds of traffic and the internet could keep you company. This place had no means of communication to an outside world, unless...
"Hey Eren, we should look for a study room, or a library, or better yet, a computer lab."16Please respect copyright.PENANAUjRbEbKlg2
"You mean, we should try to check if that radio tower has a signal? I almost forgot all about it. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea. I guess we'll just open as many doors as we can until we find something."16Please respect copyright.PENANAtOjSI0jx2p
