After all the chaos, things slowly started falling into place. My father recovered and returned home safely, which was a huge relief. My brother was also getting better, and the household was finally feeling a sense of normalcy. Despite the hurdles, the big day was getting closer, and I was determined to focus on the positives.
But deep down, I wasn’t feeling okay. Anxiety had become a part of me, and no matter how much I tried to smile, there was always that nagging worry. Every ceremony before the wedding felt like a test of my strength. I would stand there, trying to look happy, but my heart felt heavy, and my mind kept racing with thoughts like, What if something goes wrong? What if this doesn’t happen as planned?
Even as the wedding day drew closer, I couldn’t fully shake off the anxiousness. I couldn’t even express my happiness openly. It felt like something was always running in my heart—an endless loop of doubt and fear. Despite all the love and support around me, I couldn’t muster the confidence to feel at ease.
When the day finally arrived, it felt surreal. I kept telling myself, This is it. It’s happening. But a part of me still felt disconnected, as if I was just going through the motions. The ceremony wasn’t the grand dream I had imagined as a young girl, but it didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was that it was happening.
Even in the midst of the rituals and smiles, there was a strange mix of emotions—happiness, relief, and lingering anxiety. My heart knew that this moment was life-changing, but my mind was still processing everything. It wasn’t the perfect fairy-tale wedding I had once dreamed of, but it was real, and that was enough.
Looking back now, I realize that those moments were significant not because of how they looked or felt on the surface, but because of the love and determination that made them possible. The support from my loved ones and the strength I found within myself carried me through.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was my story, my journey, and my new beginning.
