Chapter 1: Illusionary Rhyme
A set of greenish turquoise eyes peeked out from behind red bangs to peer out the window. The building was old and her window was on the third floor. She observed the people walking along the sidewalk of Soudian, a city found on a land north of Nuray. She stayed motionless as her eyes began to slowly close a little. “Hickerly,” she lifted her right hand slowly. “Slickerly,” her hand slowly began to gain a blue outline. “Docks,” the same blue faintly began to appear in the air above the people.
The twelve year old appearing girl slowly smiled. “The lock ran up the stocks.” The blue magic began to take on the form of a large ugly bird. “He hoped to find the heart.” The beast gave a horrible shriek as it bared sharp teeth while diving at the people. “But when he got there,” people screamed and ducked, fleeing from the attacking beast. “The stage was bare.” The beast began to fade from existence once the sidewalk was mostly empty.
“He turned to look,” her hand began to fade from blue into a red color. “Now seeing the heart,” the red magic began to form a new creature’s form. “Out jumped the key,” the magic formed into a gargoyle appearing lycan and landed in front of an elderly woman carrying groceries. “And down fell the lock.” It roared and the woman screamed, turning and simultaneously dropped her groceries in her hurry. The girl giggled behind her left hand. “Tumbling away,” the beast began to fade. “From the blackened heart.”
Her hand began to also fade in color. She smiled and lowered her right hand slowly. “Hickerly,” her gaze shifted up to eye the now activating street lamps as the sun was setting. “Slickerly,” she slowly took a step away from the window as her hand found her side. “Docks,” she giggled as her head tilted to the left. Her hair fell across her face before her head shifted to tilt forwards. “The lock ran up the stocks.” She quietly sang in an unnerving tone.
Her head slowly lifted and her hair fell so her right eye was visible through her stringy hair. “He lost his sight,” the grin grew a bit wider with her whispered words. “Lost his head,” she giggled and lifted her head before allowing it to rest on her right shoulder. “And toppled over dead.” An unnerving chuckle left her lips as her head lifted up. Her right arm lifted, outstretched then swept in to her midsection while she bowed.
“Come again to play.” She spoke to the door with one last look as her left hand gained itself a faint gray outline. Soon the room fell into darkness.
