Author's Note
The reason why I began this story was because of Fallout 4. Anticipation at it's best, huh? Anyways, the reason why I 'left out' so many chapters, per se, is so that the reader can guess in the gaps. There's still a story to be told, still emotions in play, still a poor horsey that died, but the whole story is sort of vague in itself. At least, that's what I was aiming for.
The post-apocalyptic setting isn't supposed to be the usual nuclear war type. I wanted there to be a sense of hate and uncared attitude against the old world in this story, yet a sense of survival and determination in the new world. Byin de Taer, our protagonist, is an ordinary drifter that wants to just plain survive. She goes through hardships, like her horse dying, items stolen, but she also feels joy on occasions, like realizing she got a damn cool motorcycle, or knowing she has a strong community around her, and wonderful friends that she has. She goes from lone wanderer to being part of a community. She helps protect that community, striving for humanity to live on.
That's really what I was going for. A short story, only a few chapters. Lots of plot missing, but excusable through the chapters given. A world where one needs to survive, and a world where one receives difficult experiences, but also good experiences. A world where the unending desert, the unending torment, isn't really all that harsh when you have friends around you that care for you, and that you care for.
