War. Probably one of the most unpleasant things a person must witness. People are forced to kill one another, convicted that it is for the greater good. Soldiers are told to see things in black and white, all enemies become evil and must be eliminated. If that one enemy were just a child, they’d still face the terror of death. The reality is there are no heroes in war. An opposing solider may be one person’s enemy, but they are also someone’s brother, sister parent or friend. Even in Le Alba, where healing magic exists, many lives could not be saved because of a mass scaled conflict. With a waging war of eighty years, the death count was too high to believe. It didn’t matter if one was human, Oviri or Phoenix, if they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, their lives were taken from them. It wasn’t just those who fought in the countless battles who suffered either. The war brought on several illnesses, a massive crime wave and all kinds of natural disasters.
By the time forty years of constant fighting passed, Le Alba’s population had dropped by half, and finding people to fight became a game of chance. Warriors were scarce, forcing the Haiva, MLC and CSOG to find a new way to create soldiers. Some turned to Phoenixes, torturing the cursed creatures and making them fight to the death. Others trained children from as young as five, preparing them for the harsh and bloody battlefields. However, that failed to produce results due to the dangerously decreasing life expectancy. That was when a new plot was hatched, to revive those who perished long ago for the country. The respective parties looked into forbidden magic that had been sealed away for centuries to defeat their enemies.
The first to appear was resuscitation magic, the most forgiving of the spells. It did not bother those who had been excused from the terrible world, bringing life back to those who barely perished. However, most of the time it ended with disastrous consequences. The person revived would often perish a few days later, if they were lucky. Most became insane, killing themselves as they watched their loved ones die when they could not. Majority of the time the magic failed, either disintegrating the body or killing the caster before they could revive anyone.
The second to resurface was revival magic, were the caster sacrificed themselves giving their life to the one who died. It never succeeded as no one who experimented with the spell had enough energy to complete it. After years of trying, success to some extent surfaced. However, the person who was revived was never the person intended and never had a body of their own. Many of these failed experiments became Shadows, working with the summoners but would disappear a few years after their deaths.
The final and the worst of the three was reincarnation magic which caused more deaths that gave lives. Taking an item or the DNA of the deceased, the caster would create a body from scratch. As it used the deceased own energy signature, reincarnation magic ended up being the most successful and truly brought the dead back to life. However, they were empty and hollow, unable to think rationally practically becoming animals. Reincarnations attacked and killed millions of people and could not be killed by conventional weapons. They were monster with killing others and consuming flesh as their only thought. Due to the horror caused by these creations. The research was scrapped, never to be used again.
Towards the end of the war, a fourth type of resurrection magic was developed. It was discovered and cancelled in its infancy, making all types of reviving the dead illegal across Le Alba. War was over, there was no need to bother the dead for the selfish request of the living.
Decades passed, and Le Alba grew back to the country it once was. However, years of horrid conflict always leaves massive scars and the sinister plot conducted during that time will always resurface.709Please respect copyright.PENANAL5XRSrDAIo
