Katniss
I sit in the Hob, eating a bowl of Greasy Sae's beef stew. I try to ignore the TV blaring a bit away, but always find my eyes drifting back to it.
I'm paying Greasy Sae for the food when I hear a sickening sound. The sound of a leg ripping from a body. I look up, and sure enough, Prim is crying over the body of a dying Peeta.
No.
Why am I so upset? Prim will be coming home. Peeta won't last long and then I'll see her again. Then why am I disappointed that Peeta's dying? Probably just because he saved my life once. That's it.
I avert my eyes from the screen and leave the Hob. So many people died. Unnecessarily. Twenty-three families won't be receiving their children back.
I get in the house and Mother looks quite happy. She flings herself on me in tears.
"She's coming home," she sobs. Prim was always Mother's favorite. I wonder if she would have been that happy if it was me.
I return the hug, deciding I need to show some emotion to Mother. She's worked extra hard since Prim left, and she doesn't deserve the snippy Katniss she usually has.
Then I find myself grinning.
She's coming home.
