　　夜行者一族有個不成文的規定，或者該是說是無法抗拒的本能，女方懷孕後會吸食男方的血液至後者死亡為止，以血作為養分幫助日後生產，就像蜘蛛或螳螂吃食雄性一般。但他們又採一夫一妻制，故此結婚率並不高，國內也是女多男少。
　　前幾任的在位者皆是王后，王族生產女嬰的機率也莫名的高，可這次產下的卻是王子。
　　然而，這代表這位王子幾乎一即位就得面臨死亡的命運。

　　──唯恐沒有明天而總是我行我素的王子、暗藏心思又絕對忠心的毒舌僕人，就是屬於這兩人的故事。
