Rawell came walking in the room at a very slow pace.
“Waking me up from my sleep… What is it Pu?”
“Kaiel was crying so you need to help him!”
Rawell looked down to see tears coming from Kaiel’s eyes and falling from his face. A slight frown began to form on Rawell’s face.
“Why are you crying boy? Did something happen?”
“I… I dreamt something and I don’t know if it’s real or not.”
“Why don’t you tell me about your dream, you’ll feel better afterwards I promise.”
Kaiel looked towards Rawell, wiped the tears off his face and nodded. He then began to explain everything he saw in his dream. From his Father, to his Mother, to walking in that building, to meeting Uncle Troy, to the time they spent in the passageway, to the sight of that living door, to the white door and finally all of the events that took place on that staircase, leaving out the details of his physical appearance.
Initially Rawell’s expression showed a smile, but his face gradually changed as Kaiel relayed these events back to him, causing his face to end up in a shocked expression. To think that the little boy in front of him had gone through so much, it was safe for him to assume that both of his parents had died and his clan was probably exterminated. He was currently looking at the only survivor of a clan from a place he had never even heard of. Hearing the boy’s dream did however match up with how he found him. Rawell had no doubt that the wounds he treated were those caused by stray energy, and as for him winding up in their continent, he also had an explanation for that.
“Boy, that most likely wasn’t a dream. You remembered what happened to you. That staircase was probably in an interdimensional zone, so by falling from the only stable thing inside that zone you were thrown into a random area, luckily you managed to end up here, in our world.”
Adjusting his chair, Kaiel now fully positioned himself in front of Rawell, planning on intently listening to everything that came out of his mouth.
“Our world is called Xen, the population is said to be over 50 billion spanning over twelve main continents. The continent we are currently on is called the northern continent, there’s less than half a billion people on this continent because of it’s harsh living conditions and the large amount of monsters in the continent.”
Kaiel then interrupted Rawell’s speech to ask a question that was on his mind.
“Then if there are so little people here how come you and Pu live here?”
“Good question boy! Unfortunately that’s a story for another time, let’s just say Pu and I have done some things and due to certain circumstances we found ourselves here. Now back to what I was saying, there are a lot of monsters here and humans and monsters normally don’t coexist. However, in this continent there are a few towns in which humans and monsters do in fact coexist. Remember this Kaiel, not all monsters are evil and not all humans are good. There are times in which the real monstrosities are humans and the most humane are monsters.”
Kaiel notices Pu start to sulk after hearing Rawell speak. It seems like there is more to Rawell and Pu than meets the eye. However, now wasn’t the time to ask any further questions.
Kaiel gripped his hands and the last sentence Rawell spoke repeated in his mind. The real monstrosities are humans. Remembering his mother sacrificing herself to save him caused anger and hatred to flow in his mind.
“Enough about our world for now, Kaiel what do you plan on doing?”
Rawell keenly looked at Kaiel who was currently deep in thought. Then both of their eyes met. Rawell was currently staring into the deep black eyes of the youth, which appeared to be roaring out in this moment.
“I plan on taking revenge for my clan. For that to happen, I will need to find the remaining survivors so I plan to head out to the Yaer plane.”
Rawell leaned back in his chair and sighed.
“How do you plan to get back to your plane?”
“I- Uh- W- Walk.”
The anger that flared in his eyes quickly turned to a look of embarrassment, as he realized that he didn’t exactly know how to get to the plane.
“Once you’re there how do you plan on finding your clan? What if you run into the Vale Clan?”
Stumped once again, Kaiel looked down at his feet so he didn’t have to make eye contact with Rawell.
“I’ll tell you the answer, and not only is this the answer for the three questions I just asked you, it’s also the answer for most things in life. Are you ready to hear it?”
Kaiel intently looked at Rawell.
“The answer is power.”
“Power?”
“Yes, Power. With power one can achieve almost anything one desires. The strong dictate everything that happens in this world. Justice and injustice are both caused by those with power. Your clan wouldn’t have been in it’s position if it was stronger. Your mother wouldn’t have been covered in a pool of blood if she was stronger. Those enemies wouldn’t have chased you if your Uncle Troy was stronger and you yourself wouldn’t be in your current position if you were stronger.”
“Then how… Rawell how do I get power?”
“If you want power I can teach you, I’ve always wanted a disciple.”
Kaiel’s eyes lit up and he immediately replied.
“Yes! Rawell please teach me!”
“Alright, then first thing boy, start calling me teacher. Secondly, eat some food we’re going to be heading out into the nearby town.”
“Teacher what are we going to town for?”
“We need to get you new clothes and I need to pick up some supplies. It’ll also be a good opportunity to show you what monsters and humans coexisting looks like.”
Kaiel looked down again and saw his sorry state, bandages everywhere and a ripped robe and pants. He also looks at the crystal dangling from his neck. Kaiel thinks to himself.
“In my dream I didn’t have this crystal how weird…”
He grabbed it and brought it closer to his eyes to inspect it.
“I really can’t remember how I got this crystal. Wait, it feels like it’s the same size as the pouch. This rock is the reason mother and I were chased? What’s so special about this dumb black thing.”
“Hey student stop staring at your crystal or Pu and I will leave without you!”
“Yea kid! I, your Uncle Pu needs to buy some new fancy oils for my baths!”
Rawell and Kaiel looked at Pu then at each other and started to laugh.
“You humans just don’t understand the effort I put in to look this great! All the female birds are dying to be courted by I, the devilishly good-looking eagle of wonders!”
Kaiel covered up the crystal around his neck with his tattered robe. He wasn’t sure why this crystal was so important yet, but if his dying mother had entrusted him to keep it safe it must be of value. 413Please respect copyright.PENANAMbuGTHLqEn
And so the three of them started to move towards the neighbouring town of coexistence, Gale.413Please respect copyright.PENANAZ10ZMHGqqA
