Kaiel stepped outside the door and immediately wanted to go back inside. He only had sandals on as he unconsciously stepped into three feet of snow.
“C-C-Cold! Teacher what is this?! How can you and Pu step in this?”
Both of them stopped their conversation to look at Kaiel desperately trying to wipe off any snow from his right leg.
“Rawell is it possible that this kid has never seen snow before?”
“Hmm I guess it is possible, this is a problem. We don’t have any extra robes clothes. Oh this is a good time, I’ll teach him that!”
Pu looked over at Rawell and say his daunting smile.
“You can’t possibly mean that right? He’s just a boy he might harm himself.”
“Well that boy took over 70% of my energy when I was healing him remember? If he gets injured either his body will heal him or I’ll heal him.”
“But Rawell I wanted to get my oils today! If you were to heal him after that it would at least take a month, who knows if they would have any more by then!”
“Pu you’re more than capable enough to fly there by yourself and buy it.”
“But I wanted to see the little human’s reaction to the city.”
“Then sit still and watch, maybe he might even recover sooner than a month.”
Pu sighed as Rawell started trekking through the snow to reach the entrance of the house. Kaiel stopped wiping his leg to look at Rawell.
“My student, do you wish to learn a technique that will help you in this harsh weather?”
Yes, I do teacher.”
“This technique is one my clan had passed down for generations. It is a very strong cultivation technique and it has as many advantages. The only disadvantage is that the strength of this technique is limited to how strong its user is and it is incredibly hard to learn. Expect to fail the first couple of times, and expect to go through excruciating pain.”
Kaiel gulped as he listened to Rawell talk. His eyes just started to get wider and wider. He didn’t expect to be taught anything so soon and so he was very eager to learn. However, some of the light dimmed in his eyes as he heard the last sentences Rawell spoke. He needed to go through an immense amount of pain to get stronger.
“Teacher about how much pain would I need to go through? And could you tell me what a cultivation technique is? Is it a really cool attacking move?”
“No, a cultivation technique is a technique that lets cultivators, like us, practice and become stronger. It’s a technique used to harness the energy around us to strengthen our bodies, which in turn let’s us use offensive and defensive techniques. Cultivation techniques is basically the foundation we need to build upon to achieve more power.”
“That’s so cool! What technique are you going to teach me?!”
“I’m going to teach you something called ‘blood supremacy’. It’s an old technique that allows one to control the blood in one’s body. What you’re going to try and learn today are the very basics, which is trying to speed up the circulation of your blood. By speeding up the circulation your body becomes more resistant against the cold since it’s producing more heat.”
Rawell takes out a dagger hidden near his waist and cuts a large slit into his left arm.
“Kaiel I want you to pay attention to everything I’m about to do and say, ok?”
Kaiel nods his head as he watches the blood begin to ooze out from Rawell’s arm.
“What you firstly need to do is close your eyes and feel the blood flowing in your body. You need to feel the blood circulating and feel that it is coming through the wound.”
The blood slowly stops coming out of Rawell’s arm.
“The step after that is to visualize your blood as it is flowing. You need to consciously stop the blood from flowing near the wound. You need to do this by controlling the energy in your blood. This is one of the hardest parts, as the energy flowing through one’s veins differs for each person.”
Rawell then lowers his left arm and shows Kaiel his right arm.
“Look at the veins in my right arm.”
Kaiel observes as the tiny faint blue lines grow bigger and bigger, until one can clearly see them. Steam begins to slowly rise from Rawell’s arm as the veins continue to pump blood through his body.
“The third step is to harness the energy that you have learned to control from the previous step to further fuse into your veins and slowly expand them. You have to be careful for this part though, if you infuse too much energy your veins could rupture and seriously damage your body, it might even kill you.”
Kaiel gulps as the veins and steam slowly start to disappear from Rawell’s arm.
“There are more steps but for now you should learn these three.”
Rawell wipes off his blood from the dagger and hands it over to Kaiel.
“Begin by cutting a small wound in your arm to give you more control over-”
As he was speaking Kaiel took the dagger and slashed it into his arm and his leg making two huge wounds that instantly began gushing out blood.
Rawell and Pu were speechless at this sight. In all his years of seeing his clan members go through learning this technique he has never seen someone make a wound that big, let alone two. Pu almost instantly spoke out at this sight.
“Rawell shouldn’t you stop him? Wouldn’t he lose too much blood?”
“No… I can’t it’s too late. He’s already entered the state of concentration. You already know this technique is tricky, and one must at least feel for the energy in their blood. The highest success rate is through the first try, so stopping him now could be detrimental for his future. We’ll just have to wait until he goes unconscious, then I’ll heal him.”
They both had no option but to stare in silence as they saw the reckless youth in front of them concentrating and bleeding.
Kaiel’s eyes were closed as he started thinking to himself.
Teacher said that I need to feel the blood flowing through my body. I can feel it coming through the wound so step one is done. Then he said to feel the energy in my blood. What does he mean by that? What energy? What am I supposed to be feeling here? I think he just means to stop the bleeding, I think I can do this by tensing up this muscle here… Oh no that was bad. I’m starting to bleed more! What if I bleed to death? Did I make my wounds too big? This is bad, I need to calm down. Breathe in breathe out, in, out, in, out, in, out, in, out, in, out. Ok, teacher said to feel for the energy flowing through my veins, so it should be similar to the blood. I just need to search for the one thing that matches the speed at which my blood is flowing at. Visualize my blood flow and find the thing that matches the speed. Is, is that it? That faint blue light, that has to be it! No mistake about it, now I just need to make this blue light stop the blood from coming out of the wounds. I’ll just make the blue light form a wall over this wound, then i’ll make it over that wound. Ok, my bleeding has stopped. Now I need to expand my veins so more blood can flow through them. Teacher said to infuse the energy with the veins so they can expand. Let’s try doing that now. Match both streams together… Then you slowly start to expand the blue stream to make a bigger…
“AAAHHHH”
Kaiel lost concentration, the energy stopping the blood from gushing out of his two previous wounds dissipated and he collapsed on the ground, losing consciousness.
Rawell and Pu were dumbstruck at what they were both witnessing. They both regained their senses after Kaiel screamed and fell to the ground. Rawell quickly knelt down to heal the self-inflicted wounds Kaiel currently had. He then carried Kaiel back inside the cabin and laid him down on the same bed he was in before.
Rawell then broke the silence.
“Pu, I’m not seeing things right? This kid actually got to step three in less than 10 minutes?”
“No, you’re not seeing things. It also appears that this kid has a high affinity for the water element.”
“Yea, you must be right. That blue energy around his body was too pure, not even I have such a high affinity for my element.”
“Haha, looks like all those years of failed disciples have made up for this moment eh Rawell? A monster teaching another monster, how unbelievable!”
Rawell thought back to the scene he just witnessed. He was the first person to successfully pass the second step on his first try in his clan, yet for a genius like him it still took him two weeks before he was able to begin step three. Yet this seven year old boy in front of him had almost immediately gotten to the third step. The colour of his energy was also extremely pure, it’s like he was the embodiment of water itself.
Just thinking about his student’s future caused Rawell to jitter with excitement. He had finally found a successor to pass on the legacy of his once great clan, a successor that would undoubtedly cause an uproar in this continent. And most importantly, a successor that he could pass down his most important treasure to.
The more he looked at the sleeping youth, the more chills he got. He quickly began to write down a long list of items and handed it to Pu.
“Pu, I need you to fly in to town and pick up all of these items now. I’ll also need you to hunt for the next couple of months while I train Kaiel.”
Pu grabbed the list with his claw and nodded to Rawell. Before he flew out Pu said one last thing to Rawell.
“Before it goes away, you should look at your face in the mirror Rawell. I haven’t seen that expression on you in centuries.”
Pu flew out and Rawell made his way to a mirror nearby and started to laugh. He knew this face and feeling all too well in the past, it was the first time he had felt this way since that fated day. It was the feeling of pure bliss, pure happiness.
