What would you do to stay alive?  How far would you let your mind go?

-Write a short story, no more than 3,000 words, in response to the lyrical quote from Migraine by Twenty-One Pilots;

"Sometimes to stay alive you've gotta kill your mind."

-**This contest will be judged on creativity, and how it may pull or push a reader's thoughts.  It will not be graded for how dark you go, or how violent you turn the story into, (although that is certainly allowed, given the rating).  It will be judged simply on how far you'll let your mind wander-- may it be in a life or death situation, or even cheating on a test.
