16 year old Hazel Ellis lives in a cottage with her mother and her older brother, Nico. Her father is a traveler and her mother works at a local bar nightly. Hazel knows that they are short on money, but she plans on going to an actual school one day. She starts seeking a job at night so she can earn enough money to both help her family and get into a good school. 

That's when her troubles start. She soon fears that she has a stalker who could ruin her. One night, the stalker confronts her and tells her to willingly go with him and he will pay her family handsomely. 

Hazel, being the selfless daughter, complies. She is taken to a castle and learns she has powers that may be illegal.

What could she do but sit around and let this nasty man abuse her? 

A lot, of course. Women aren't weak, and Hazel proves this. she escapes from the nasty man's castle and sets off on an adventure. She meets a girl on the way who's close to her age. This girl has a secret, Hazel knows it. 

Will Hazel survive and make it back home? Will she be the same when she gets there?
