"No! Stop!" I scream, trying to struggle free. But my hope for freedom led to no avail. I was trapped. They had me cornered.
"Please! STOP!" My begging turned into a bloodcurdling scream once the knife plunged into my stomach. The pain was intense, yet I couldn't help thinking that it was such a shame it didn't kill me right on the spot. They missed my heart, on purpose, even! How rude, and after all this there's even more torture I have to go through?! Why couldn't I just die and have it be over with? Anything... Anything would be better than being here. Alone..
I stood up and ran, grasping my stomach, faster than I had ever ran before. They don't follow me. But their eyes are always watching me, never leaving. I've already taken my punishment for a crime I never even committed! I don't even deserve any of this! I cried out in frustration and turned the corner of the dark hallway, only to find four different paths. Where will my feet take me? I decide to wander down the far left corridor, perhaps I would have some luck for once. Twists and turns every which way I went. My stab wound wasn't making these turns any easier. Just when I was about to pass out I came to the end of the hall and heard.. Another scream. Only not that of my own. The screech came from the unmoving body of my sister. Blood rained down from still face, frozen in terror.
"No.." Tears started rolling from my eyes. Her arms and legs were bent in awkward places, the left leg barely hanging on.
Even though her body lay still the screams reverberated around the room. I couldn't control my sobbing from that point, first they torture me, but now my sister? I reach out for her hand. Her eyes quickly snapped open and locked on me. Those silver eyes. The ones that I looked up to every day, contorted with anger.
"TRAITOR!" She screamed, lunging for my arm. I retreated, escaping with a bleeding scratch.
"N-no... Celeste, NO!" I scrambled backwards to the exit, unable to avert my gaze from hers.
"TRAITOR!" My sister screamed over and over.
"What are you talking about?! I never did any of this to you! Do you hear me? It wasn't me! CELESTE IT WASN'T ME!" I finally get to my feet and dash all the way back to the other corridors. Panting, I look back. Nothing. No sign of Celeste having followed me. No screams. Dead silent. I only felt the hairs on the back of my neck rise.
"Why..?" A trembling voice spoke from behind me. I spun around. Down the rightmost passage was a woman in nothing but a tattered nightgown. She, too, was drenched in blood.
"Why did you do this to us?" She started to sob.
"M-mom...?" I shook with fear as she lifted her head. Blood ran down her face where tears should have been.
"Why did you hurt me... Why did you hurt US?!" I turned to go down a different way, but my path was blocked by two more figures.
"Not my little girl! No!" The body of my bloodied father limped closer.
"Sasha? Ouch.. Sasha..." My best friend Cory walked towards me. Still wearing his casual jean jacket, only it was torn and painted in crimson. That was the last straw, I couldn't bear this anymore. I screamed and ran back, back to that awful room I came from. They could have me now, I didn't care. A thought lingered in the back of my mind. A confused thought of joy and sadness. I shoved it away. Back in the room, I quickly closed the heavy metal door shut with one last cry of "TRAITOR!" from Celeste. No use, I could still hear their dying cries in the depths of my mind. I held my head and screamed again. They only looked at me with amusement.
Then I saw it. My knife. On the counter. A mere couple feet away from me. "Thank you." I said. "It was nothing." A familiar voice answered me. I ran the smooth blade in my hands, realizing what I had to do. The door creaked open. "Ouch, Sasha... That really hurt." Cory was standing in the doorway. I only smiled as I walked up to him. A giggle escaped me as I slid the knife up his throat slowly. I savored the sound of his dying words, his last breath. One by one, each of them came and went. It feels odd to say I enjoyed it. They told me it was my turn now. It was unavoidable, after all, and I must follow what they say. I take one final glance at my knife. It shone beautifully in the dim cave light, even though the blood covered a good half of the blade. Gorgeous. Just like her eyes. Of course that's why they had to go first. Nothing could be more beautiful as her eyes. I then slit the knife over my throat. For the first time I felt Them slip away from me. They were gone, at last! Peace, quiet. Freedom. The last tear slid down my cheek as I closed my eyes and drifted into an everlasting sleep. After all, I had nothing to worry about. It was impossible that I could have killed them on my own free will. It wasn't me...
