"Wow! Your school is HUGE!" the girl exclaimed, walking through the entrance.
"Yeah..." Jeraurd answered, sulking behind her. He couldn’t believe she was actually in high school, being only thirteen. His luck couldn’t get any worse.
The day had grown cloudy and cold, as usual for the last few months in the year. But the circus freak of a girl was dressed up as if it were summer. Actually, she looked as if she were going to the beach rather than school; she wore shorts, a tank top, and sandals, and even carried around a massive handbag rather than a backpack.
From seniors to freshman, every boy that had passed them by eyed the girl hungrily. For some reason, this made Jeraud’s insides twitch in annoyance. He tried to ignore it as she dug through her bottomless beach bag for her planner.
"So... Where is Mrs. Hessefort’s class?" the creature asked, her nose stuck in her schedule.
"Hessefort?" Jeraud’s heart skipped a beat.
"Yep!" she informed with a smile.
"Give me that!" He snatched the paper from her before reading down her schedule, eyes wide in disbelief. “No freggin' way!" He screamed.
"What? What's wrong?!" the mountain gorilla asked, genuine concern in her voice.
"We have every freggin' class together!" He told her angrily, slapping the planner shut and forcing it back into her open hands. He was fuming, his ears as red as Mars.
"No way!! Really?" she questioned with a surprised smile, shutting her planner and tucking it back into her beach bag very gently.
He ground his teeth at the fact that she didn't seem as annoyed as he was. It only added to his anger, and he had a sneaking suspicion that his sweet mother had something to do with this. First, he’s forced to live with this creep, now he has to spend practically every passing hour of his life with her! He couldn’t catch a break.
"Hey, Jeraud! You're here early!" a joking voice called from behind the pair.
He turned around, thankful for the perverted, pubescent mind of Mikey and the manly, macho muscles of Tim. With their natural stupidity in play, Jeraud hoped they would scare the circus freak away, and she'd be out of his hair until first period.
Disregarding the joke—he was only early because the gorilla didn't want to be late for her first day—he smiled at Mikey and Tim. "Hey, guys!"
"Hi! I'm the new!" Right off the bat, she has to make Jeraud’s worst case scenario a reality.
"Hey there, new girl." Mikey was always up for making new friends, especially girl ones. "What might your name be?" he asked sweetly.
The freak gasped, "You mean Jer hasn't talked about me before?"
Mikey and Tim exchanged questioning looks. "Jer..?" Tim asked with a single brow raised.
"I told you not to freggin' call me that, freak face!" He hissed at the girl, annoyed that she hasn't drilled this into her head yet.
She answered with a loud gulp, her piercing crystal eyes almost spilling apologetically.
"Yo, quit being rude to the new girl, Jer." Mikey teased, a smirk on his lips.
"Do you want me to hit some sense into him?" Tim added, throwing one fist into the other.
Jeraud gawked at his two friends, stunned that they were already so keen for the circus freak and her circus act.
“No, don’t!" her girly laugh broke his friends from their trance. "He did ask me to stop calling him that all morning, but I guess it just doesn't get in." she giggled as she jokingly hit her head.
The guys, my friends, grumbled as they backed off.
"Say, what's your name?" the creature asked Mikey, her eyes sparkling.
"M-Mikey..." he stuttered, dazzled by her stare. Jeraud took note of the color on Mikey’s cheeks. Was he blushing?
"Can I try on your hat, M-Mikey?" she asked with an air of sweet innocence in her smile.
Now a deep scarlet and out of words, Mikey quickly and silently handed her his hat. She gasped in surprise and happily took the cap, gently placing it on her head in a crooked angle. Jeraud averted his gaze in annoyance, quickly denying any initial thoughts he might have had of her actually looking cute.
"Hi!" she greeted as she smiled at her next victim, putting out her hand for him to shake.
"Hi." Tim smiled as he shook her hand. Jeraud noted Mikey’s glare at Tim, envious of getting to touch her.
He rolled his eyes in disgust. Just like the boys who hungrily watched her as she passed by, Mikey was head over heels for the ape. They reminded Jeraud of a pack of dogs, hungry for even the slimiest of gruel. If they knew she was an inhuman freak, then they wouldn’t take to her so easily.
But Jeraud knew, so why couldn’t he bring himself to just say it? He pouted, angry with himself for being so softhearted.
