For junior law student Joanna Cullen, starting over is what drives her. She made a promise when she left her home, the small town of Candor, Massachusetts, that she would never speak of the Horrible Awful she and a group of other kids witnessed in the summer of 2014.
And then Jo gets a disturbing photo sent to her from her long-dead twin sister's email, of Kayla, a childhood friend. In the photo, Kayla appears to be dead. The killer leaves a cryptic message for Jo, which leaves her convinced that everyone else who survived the Campfire Murders of 2014 is in danger- including herself.
In order to stay alive, Jo needs to go deep into the past of everyone involved that night, and this time, she won't be able to run away from the truth.. no matter how ugly it is.
