n the depths of the woods four wolves slid through the brush like ghosts in the middle of the night. Those four wolves were Birch, Chrysanthemum, Charlotte, and Shadow. They were known as the Agents of Darkness.

Its been three months since that awful hunting trip. The sadness had for the most part passed, and the services for those that died that day had been held. My dad was going to make a speech today. Everyone was waiting in anticipation, and no one seemed to know what to do with themselves.
Finally at around noon my Dad walked out of the cave and howled. That meant he was ready. We all walked to the front of the cave and looked up to the raised ledge where my Dad, Grimoir, was standing.
"Three months ago as you all remember, six of our bravest hunters were brutally killed by a hunting party from The Fang. Their attack was unprovoked will not be tolerated. Therefore the high council and I have declared war on The Fang. While the main force creates a diversion battle against the warriors from The Fang will have a group of four wolves move around their territory and attack from behind. Only those who are very skilled in stealth will be in that group. This group will be known as the Agents of Darkness, and they will be led by my daughter, Shadow. If either group should fail two of the designated members of each group will howl together in a pattern that signals retreat. We will be working hard to select these few warriors to be part of the Agents of Darkness. That is all. Thank you for your time," said Grimoir with confidence.
He then turned to the high council and walked into the cave with them. I followed them in to hear their conversation.
"Darkwing, should't we choose more than four? I just don't think it will be enough," said one of them.
"Yea, we need a stronger force for a raid," added another.
"You worry too much, my daughter is very capable. More capable than you might think," dad said.
"I still think it will fail," said the first one.
"I know what I'm doing, now please, leave," said my dad
"Yes, Commander Darkwing," they said, and walked out.
"Uh...Commander Darkwing?" I asked confused.
"Oh, you overheard that..." said Dad.
"Yes, and I'd like some answers," I said.
"Darkwing is my real name, but I only am addressed by it during times of war, or during meetings with the council because they don't seem to know the meaning of the word casual," said Dad.
"Oh, well, I'll just call you Dad." I said.
"Its late, and you should get some sleep. You will be selecting your team for the raid tomorrow." said Dad.
"Ok," I said, and I went to my corner of the cave and laid down and went to sleep.
My role in the war was huge, and I wasn't sure if I was ready for it. I just hoped we would win.
When I woke up my Dad had already left the cave, and judging by the angle of the sun it was 10:00am.
I walked out of the cave, and looked in awe at the scene before me. Many of the nearby caves had collapsed, and small fires were all that remained of what appeared to have been some sort of fight. There were many wolves lying on the ground, bloody and motionless.
"Shadow!" Dad yelled, "COME HERE!"
I went over to the side of the cave where my dad was, and almost fainted. Pinned to the wall were the gashed, scratched up remains of Martha Loxar.
"Dad, what the hell happened?" I asked.
"The Fang attacked us without warning last night," said Dad.
"How did I sleep through all of it?" I asked.
"The Fang tried to knock us out with rocks, and they must have gotten you," said Dad.
Not too far away I could see Martha's parents sitting together, crying. They had lost both of their children now.
"When we launch our attack, I will kill every single one of those bastards," I said with a very serious, and angry tone of voice.
I walked over and got Martha off the wall and laid her on the ground. Her rib cage was visible, and all of her internal organs were gone.
I looked out over the encampment again and said, "last night, it must have been hell."
"We'll get back at them soon, but right now we need to make our army," said Dad.
I turned and walked to the center of the camp and slowly looked around at the damage.
