Steven climbed into bed silently. Beside him, Spinel was already laying down and seemingly asleep, but a few minutes after he settled and closed his eyes, he felt Spinel climbing delicately on top of him and laying on him silently.
Slightly flustered, Steven watched as Spinel settled on him and laid her head on his chest, her one eye closed. To his surprise, she rubbed her cheek against him affectionately and began to purr quietly, her cat ear twitching with content.
He felt his tail begin to involuntarily wag with delight. He scratched her head gently and her purr grew a little louder while she pressed her head hard against his hand. He smiled and wrapped his arms around her, making her lazily raise her head and look at him.
Without a word, Steven stared back, gazing deep into her different colored eyes. After staring for several minutes, Spinel murmured, “What are you doing?”
Steven tilted his head slightly. “What do you mean?”
“You’re staring at me. Why?”
Steven didn’t answer immediately, his expression blank. Then he smiled again. “Your eyes,” he whispered softly. “I can’t help but stare at them.”
Spinel glanced away. “You know I hate it when you stare,” she muttered.
“But your blind eye is beautiful,” Steven protested, gently pushing a strand of her hair away from her white eye and tucking it behind her cat ear.
Spinel turned her head away, shrouding her sightless eye from him. “Well, can you at least not stare so much?”
Steven’s voice trembled with laughter. “Sorry,” he mumbled, gently closing his eyes to keep from looking at her. “I just can’t look away.”
After a few moments of silence, Steven asked quietly, “Can I open my eyes?”
Spinel’s tone was childish and somewhat flat. “No.”
Steven chuckled again. “Okay, scaredy cat. Afraid the big bad wolf will eat ch’ya?”
“No!” Spinel said quickly with a note of mock fear in her voice. Steven smirked mischievously and swiftly leaned in, gently nibbling her on the neck. She made a sound that was a mix of a yelp and a giggle and the two of them began to tussle, rolling around the bed until they fell off with Steven on his back beneath Spinel. His hands were around her wrists, keeping her from further “attacking” him. They struggled, straining quietly, until Spinel swooped down and pressed her lips against his.
He automatically loosened his grip and felt her smirk against his lips. She pulled free and tangled him in her extended arms, holding him in the air helplessly. The movement had been so swift, Steven squeaked in surprise.
Spinel sat on the edge of the bed, still smirking and watching him with taunting eyes. “Who’s the scared one now?” she teased in a sing-song voice. Steven shot her a playful glare that earned a laugh before she gently let him down and her arms returned to their usual length.
As Steven came up to her side and sat beside her, Spinel murmured, “I love you, Steven,” and pressed against him.
Steven smiled and covered her face in kisses that soon became licks as he turned into a wolf and climbed on top of her. She let out a mrrow! of laughter, flailing a little.
“Steven!” she protested. “Stop! That tickles!”
This only pushed him to lick her face more vigorously.
Her high-pitched, delighted laughter filled him with joy. Eventually, he stopped, and they gazed at each other’s faces.
“Wow. . .” she breathed.
Steven’s eyes glittered in the darkness. “What?” he asked softly.
“Your eyes,” Spinel answered gently, her voice a delicate whisper. “If mine are beautiful, they’re nothing compared to yours when you’re in wolf form.”
Whenever Steven transformed, his dark brown eyes usually became a bright amber-gold color. He ducked his head with embarrassment, and she shifted beneath him to keep staring.
This must’ve been how she felt whenever he stared.
“Please stop,” he muttered.
“Stop what?” Spinel tipped her head to one side questioningly. “The staring?” She leaned closer until their lips were only inches away from each other, her warm breath spilling teasingly across his muzzle. “Sorry, but I can’t look away.”
Flustered, Steven climbed off and transformed into his usual human appearance. Giggling quietly to herself, Spinel pushed him down on the bed again and laid on top of him, pressing her cheek against his chest before dozing off in his arms. Smiling a bit at her peacefulness, Steven closed his eyes and snuggled in a little closer before falling asleep.190Please respect copyright.PENANAsccYoN48Rg
