The first time that Princess Ivy ever met the black white snow owl that she would go on to name Cora , she was only 7 years old . Ivy was sent by her mother and father to pick some blueberries because they needed them to go with their deserts ( in truth Ivy's parents probably just wanted a couple of minutes of peace and quite ) . Ivy was equipped with a wicker basket to put the berries in . Once Ivy finally arrives at the berry bush she starts to pick the dark fruits . When she hears a noise she looks up . There is a beautiful looking snow owl . " Hello " Ivy said gently . " Do you have a name ? " Ivy coos at the owl . " I'll give you a name , your name is Cora " Ivy continues . Now at age 10 Ivy is running through the freezing snow covered grass with the owl flying overhead . Ivy is wearing a long white dress with black embroidered stripes that makes her look a lot like her owl . Ivy giggles and Cora the owl makes a happy noise . Suddenly as she is running Ivy trips over a large log and cuts her knee when she falls . Cora lets out a worried noise as Ivy cries in pain . Cora the owl swoops down to Ivy . Cora perches next to Ivy and then nudges Ivy . Ivy's wound starts sticking itself together until it has completely healed even the blood that had fallen to the snow disappearing . Ivy stands up slowly and then her and Cora begin to head home both of them happy once more .
