Amidst your thoughts you were, trying to figure out what to do at that particular moment. here is what you risked your life for few minutes ago trying to steal but now it's right in front of you and you are hesitating to take it.
"What on earth is wrong with me, take this damn sword and run away " you yell at yourself . you try once again, extending your hands to reach for the sword but your guilt pulled you back.
" I guess am not a brave thief after all " you finally concluded to yourself. As you lay your back on the couch, trying to get some rest you hear the door creak open
" she is back" you quickly sit up well, anxious of what this fearsome lady will do now with you.
She walk slowly towards you and sit on the opposite couch looking straight into your eyes. You were becoming uncomfortable with her strange stare and voiced out
" Are you thinking of the best way to kill me "? You ask in a jittery voice
The woman replies " Actually I would have locked you up in my dungeon.... "
" I guessed right she wouldn't kill a child " you thought
" But I decide to put you to test and i am pleased with the result"
Now you are confused , you ask slowly " what test "
" I left my sword to see if you are such an unruly child and so desperate, but I return to see you and my sword so that was a good result for you "
" And what if I had taken it " you ask proudly
" you can't, because it was a trap so I would have caught you and not imprison but kill you " she reply with a very fierce voice and now you admit she is a very hard woman and you wouldn't want to mess with her . you gulp down your saliva and your heart is pounding hard " I just want to leave here " you whisper to yourself.
She stood up and walk to the fireplace , you don't have a clue what she was doing there but your eyes were fixed on her and when she turns to you she ask
" why do you want my sword child "
You refuse to give response but just staring at her
" Tell me your name and your purpose for this theft " ?
" My name is not important and so is my mission, so please can I go " you reply intrepidly.
" You know who i am and yet you speak to me fearlessly, I like your bravery and I can give you this sword for a brave person is the one worthy to have it but first I must know you "
After a long thought about what she said you decide to tell her the truth maybe she can help you.
" My name is Arthur, a cruel king holds my mother and some of my people hostage . i wanted to steal the sword and batter it with the king for the release of my mother and people ".
" you risked your life to steal my sword in other to save your mother and people ?"
" yes " you mutter
" Well if you give the king this sword he will take it and imprison you too. But you can fight him with it and free your mother and people ".
" I can't beat the king, am only a child ." you tell the woman fearfully
" of course you are a child, but wisdom. Bravery. Skills . are all you need to defeat a king not height and age ."
Now you conclude to yourself that this widow is wacko.
She continues " I can teach you all you need to learn Arthur, you don't need to be scared "
" I am not interested thank you madam, if you are so benevolent why not give me some food and let me go "
" you can do it, if you are brave enough to try to steal a legendary sword and fear little of its consequences then you can do it "
" I have heard all your lecturing, so do you mind giving me the food so that I can I leave ! " you say harshly becoming impatient.
" of course" the woman reply with a smile, as she stood up and put some fruits in a bag and hand them over to you.
You collected them thanked her and turn to leave but her words made you stop
" you will come back Arthur "
You shrug and left her home. As you walk around the village begging to get shelter you feel exhausted and take some rest under an acacia tree and munch on the fruits you were given . you rest for a while and stood up to continue your quest. After few miles walk away from the widow's village you saw another hamlet, you ran towards it to beg for food and shelter but you saw all the villagers gathered around themselves and some weird knights amidst them , " what is going on" you ask yourself.
