This is a series of short stories I wrote for The Fabulous Spec-Fic Smack Down on Wattpad, which required me to write flash fiction, short stories, drabbles, and poetry inspired by prompts that qualified as Speculative Fiction. Speculative Fiction is a genre that’s basically a mash-up of whatever you want it to be, commonly Sci Fi, Fantasy, Horror, but by definition, anything goes. Alternate timelines and universes are pretty common in Spec Fic, too. Flash fiction is a story shorter than typical Short Stories, and drabbles are exactly 100 words in length.

This was a writing experiment for me, because:- I had never written Speculative Fiction.- Or flash fiction.- Or drabbles.​​​​​​​- Or from an image prompt.

Somehow, I survived the eliminations until round four, part one. I decided to keep following the contest on my own, so as long as it's running, I'll keep adding chapters within the deadline based on the prompts provided. But I won't stop when the contest ends. This has been such a fun project, so I've decided to pull prompts from various sources and keep it going as long as I can.

This is a complete works of Alyssum’s short stories.

In the scorching desert heat, a spirited delivery man ventures into the vast emptiness, unaware of the horrifying fate that awaits him. With his present cargo tightly secured, he had no inkling that within its confines lay a mystery too grisly to comprehend. And then, as the cargo is unveiled, a ghastly truth is revealed – a man-eating beast, more sinister than any nightmare, lurks behind those timber slates. The desert becomes an arena of terror, where life and death hang in the balance.

Left trapped in a bone-chilling dilemma, his every move determines his own survival. The stakes had never been higher, and the desert bears witness to a harrowing battle for survival, as the hunter becomes the hunted, and fear carves its path amidst the arid wasteland.

This is a story I wrote of a whim when an acquintance asked me to write a flash story out of the blue.

Silence recalls meeting their soon-to-be adoptive mother, at seven years of age.

An adolescent battles with turmoil over whether or not to suicide to escape their violent parents, to suicide,  would be to leave their younger  brother in vengeful hands.
