Meeting Mushroomish
Soon they shifted to their new house in Beijing. They bought furniture, utensils, etc. for the new house. The society was good, it was divided into two sides- one was Frontier street and the second was Alcott street. A woman, whom everyone addressed as Officer May was the chief executive responsible for the residential area. In her office, all the problems of society were discussed and resolved.
On the first day in their new house, Officer May and Mrs. Anglican their new neighbor came to welcome the family into the society. Mrs. Anglican was accompanied by her daughter. Sara’s mom suggested Sara and Radhika to play with her. Sara and Radhika went to the neighborhood park with her. They talked with each other. The girl’s name was Mushroomish Anglican, she was nine. Her family had shifted here from Kansas, America, six years ago. They started playing with each other on days and became good friends. Mushroomish told Sara that she is also practicing Karate. Mushroomish had also got her orange belt recently.

Sara’s parents were yet to find a school for her as she could not keep up with Chinese medium schools. Radhika was fortunate that an English-medium playschool was running in the society thus she got admitted there. Mrs. Anglican came to the rescue of Sara’s parents. She told them about the school where Mushroomish studied. It was an English medium school in another corner of Beijing, nearly 75 km away. Although it was hard for them to fathom sending their 10-year-old to such a distance in an alien land, it was advised to be one of the best institutions to continue Sara’s education and Karate training. The next day Sara’s father went to the Millennium International school. The facilities and staff of the school were excellent. After completing the formalities of admission, Sara was given the schedule of the ongoing session which was starting in a week. Sara needed to avail hostel facility as it took nearly three hours to reach the school from her home due to the rush hour traffic of Beijing.

On the first day of school, she went to the principal's room. The Principal was a middle-aged woman, wearing glasses and was medium in height with long and light brown hair. She welcomed her with a smile and interestingly gave her a map of the school. She suggested her to explore the school and make new friends. Sara got the keys and went on to find room No.216 with the help of the map where, she was supposed to stay in. As she opened the room, a pleasant surprise struck her. She found Mushroomish sitting in front of her. Their room was furnished in a traditional Chinese style. It had three beds meant to accommodate three students, but the third bed was not occupied. Sara was secretly happy about it.

As the school session advanced, both remain busy with their studies and extra-curricular activities. Sara and Mushroomish became very good friends. They used to go together to the dining area, canteen, market, and back home on weekends.
