I cringe at her crude comment and pick up my cup of tea taking a sip.
We currently sat in a small cafe shop that was near her university. I haven't seen her in a while since she left and she has been to busy to call or text but fianlly I got a hold of her and we decided to meet up today. I also needed a friend right now.
"Its alright. I ordered you a coffee with two cubes of sugar and milk. Just the way you use to like it. I hope you still do."
She smiles at me and picks up the cup I slid towards her. "I do. Thanks. I haven't seen you in so long, you've gotten more beautiful I see."
I chuckle and sit my cup of tea back down.
"I could say the same to you. I see you dyed your hair back to red."
"You know it, red looks best on me. So how have you been? You and Dante still going strong?"
I bite my lip when she says his name and immediately rub on my bruised wrist through the long sleeves.
I force a small smile and quickly answer her back. " I've been ok just busy and yeah we're still going strong." I lie. "How about you? Met any girls lately?"
She sips on her coffee before grinning widely at me. "I've been great just college sucks but I have met someone."
I move my hair behind my ear and laugh quietly.
"Tell me about her."
"Well her name's Yasmine and she's majoring in literature like me. And she's really beautiful. I have like 2 classes with her. But sadly she has a boyfriend." She sighs setting her cup down.
"That hasn't stopped you before."
She laughs and nods her head. "Correct as always, Jess."
For a good hour or two Sara and i sat in the small cafe talking and catching up and I must say I was really having a nice time.
Which is is something I haven't had in a long time.
"And then he was like damn girl and I was like-" Sara was interrupted by the sound of a phone ringing and I frown when I realize it was mine.
I pull it out my back pocket to see a picture of Dante and his name flashing across the screen.
"Um. Excuse me for a moment Sara."
She nods and I stand up quickly making my way out of the fairly empty cafe.
I slide the green phone across the screen, shakily and put the phone up to my ear.
"H-hello."
"Where the fuck are you?" Dante says his voice calm but I could tell he was angry.
"I-I'm with Sara. Y-you know the- the one from high school?"
"So you decided to leave without telling me where you were going?"
I gulp and look around then back into the cafe to see Sara was waiting patiently on her phone.
"Y-you were asleep. I-I didn't want t-to wake you."
"Do you think I want your excuses? Get your ass home right now and you better be prepared for a punishment." He says harshly before he hangs up.
I feel my bottom lip tremble as tears escape from my eyes and down my cheeks.
I don't want another punishment. The one last night hurt so bad.
My breath shudders as I try to calm myself down before returning to Sara.
She looks up at me and smiles but immediately frowns upon seeing my solemn expression.
"I have to head home."
"So soon?"
"Um, yeah Dante isn't feeling to well." I grab my jacket from the booth and slide it on before grabbing my purse.
"Oh. Well I hope he feels better. It was great seeing you again, Jess. We should do this again sometime and I'll try to text you more often." She said standing up and pulling me into a quick hug.
"Yes, of course. Oh and I've already paid so don't worry. "
She nods and pulls back from the hug. "Tell Dante I said get well."
With that I left the cafe and made my way to my car that I parked in the lot across from the cafe.
My phone buzzes in my back pocket and I pull it out to see a text message.
You have 10 mins to get here.~ Dante
Oh please no. I can't make it to our apartment in 10 minutes.
It's literally 30 minutes from here because it's on the other side of town.
I'm fucked.
